Sometimes I'll look through my "precious" hoard, which for all intents and purposes - isn't a hoard, but more along the lines of handful, lol. But I can dream. Anyway - while looking through my Mapes chips, the light hit just right on one chip, and I saw letters; "D G" to be exact. All my green $25's (....and when I say all....I do mean all three!....) look to have been hotstamped and then labeled(?) I searched around and didn't see anything about this, figured I'd toss this out and see if any other Mapes collectors have seen this (or currently see this on any of their chips).

I'm wondering if those might have been TRK hot-stamped color samples (Day Green) that were later repurposed and recompressed with a Mapes inlay.

They had a hot stamp over the inlay, and the foil was removed by someone to make the hot stamp less obvious.

I saw about twenty $5’s for the Mapes this last weekend in the same condition.

(scratches head).....

So someone actually picked up some Mapes chips, and then hotstamped over them? With all the roulette chips and everything else out and about, someone actually wanted to try and ruin a Mapes chip?

Likely not a collector, but the casino itself.
