Fiirstly, buying a supporting membership with less than 5 posts is commendable!

All joking aside, there is no “professional” weight…only what chips most casinos use. In general, those are in the 8.5g-10g range.

A great resource is found in the New Members Start Here thread. Lots of answered questions there before you proceed.

Welcome and enjoy your stay!

Different materials = different weights
Different sizes = different weights

Most casinos use 39mm chips that average out in the 9-10g range.

Some people like heavier and some like lighter. Mold designs and materials will affect sound, friction, texture, heft.

Also different colour(s) (can) = different weight
Different inlay size = different weight

I guess you could say colour could be a different material...

It really doesn’t matter.
Personally I like something around 11 grams. But really anything from like 7 to 12 is fine.
