Anyone have any insight on the availability / value of the Luxor $4, which I assume (but don't know for sure) was used as a drop chip?

If it was a drop chip, since the Luxor closed their poker room in 2017, what happened to these chips? Were they destroyed? Can you get them at the cage? Are they used at the table games?

There's one on eBay right now and it's going for $45 so far. Does that seem like a ridiculous price, or a bargain?

Also interested to hear from the harvesters like @casinochipper22 and @SpaceMonkey420 for your perspectives on getting chips like this. Thanks!

Seems pretty high to me, unless the Casino took them out of circulation or destroyed them. I have one I bought awhile ago. Can't recall the price though it sure wasn't close to $45.

I've never seen this chip. Looks pretty sweet though. I know hard to get drop chips can get a good mark up. I sold a couple $4 Sahara drop chips( that are live) for $79 and another for around $30

Thanks @gmunny and @casinochipper22 for your information. I decided that I could probably find another one someday if I try hard enough (and spend enough) so I stopped bidding, not wanting to spend a lot of money right now.

... and in particular I stopped well below what it went for. I'll cross my fingers and hope the current chipmania subsides someday and brings these down into my price range.

Seems absurd for a Luxor drop chip. I can’t remember if any of my friends dealt poker there or not but if I come across one I’ll let you know.

Drop chips are usually hard to get out in quantity. I can only remember a hand full of times a member was able to get a rack or more (and the best example was recent as a vendor was able to purchase several racks due to the room closing).
IMO this is the rarest of the LV drop chips. It was a small room, and they were notoriously tight with them. I know some other rooms would tell you “No”, but then their drop chips were still popping up on eBay and with other retailers (MGM). As you noted, the room has been closed for 4 years now. I’m not sure if they destroyed the drop chips, or if they’re sitting in one of their cages. Also, the Luxor’s day may be numbered:

Another member had one of these they showed me before. Other than that, I hadn’t even seen one come up for sale until the recent auction.

I've got one sitting in a display with about 100 chips. I bought it a few years ago in a batch of 10 drop chips.....I probably paid $5 max for it. Apparently that was a good pick-up
