Word homies.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a set of these and was after some thoughts from anyone who has a set (or samples even) - how they feel, how they stack, how easy they are to distinguish from each other (esp the 100 and 500) - also if anyone has alternative ceramic suggestions I'd be happy to hear 'em (don't just say "Boardwalks" :) ).

I like the design of the Lucky Dragon chips. I don't think I'll ever own another ceramic chip set that will see any routine play. Not my thing.

Royal Yaks come up for sale in the classifieds every once in a while. I think Courage had a large set available for a bit. I'd consider those. If you could find someone willing to part with an Egyptians set (good luck), I'd do that in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, neither of these sets is available through a manufacturer. Relying on the classifieds.

It's a decent design, and typical Sun-Fly ceramic quality and characteristics -- generally speaking, you either like 'em or you don't.

If you have samples of any Sun-Fly 39mm ceramic line, they'll be the same. Good print quality, stack/shuffle okay, glossy rolling edge.

Not a top-tier product like GOCC or casino Chipcos, but not the high price tag, either.

Tiki Kings? They are more of a love them, hate them kind of chip though.

I really like the design of the Tikis, but dont like ceramics in general. Too slippery.

Like BGinGA said, they are Sunflys. I got a big Set of them in the Past with the Motive "Old Havanna " and really liked them. Good Price for good Chips...:)

Thanks folks for the above replies.

Sample set arrived today. I like 'em, however the colour similarity between the 1000 and 5000 chips is a deal-breaker. A lime yellow/green 5000 and a slightly different lemon yellow 1000? WTF?

ETA I meant to ask if this has been noted by anyone else, or am I having an attack of Venerati-itis?

They never seemed that close in the sample pics, I'm really amazed.

That said, the light blue 50c chip and chocolate brown 25k chip look gorgeous together (probably wouldn't be on the table at the same time, though...)

One other thing - anyone know if is it possible to get these without denoms? Even if that means a "semi-custom" option?

Green and yellow chips never cause any color problems for me on the felt. YMMV.

Sun-Fly, OWPS, and BRPro Poker all offer semi-custom options on almost all designs they sell.

Apollon chips and br poker both have lucky dragon chips. Are they both sun-fly?

Apollon is Sun-Fly's retail outlet. BRPro is now owned by ABC Gifts & Awards, and is a licensed re-seller for Sun-Fly.

I was thinking about getting a set of these several years ago. I emailed brpropoker at the time to see if it was possible to change just a couple of the denoms on a few colors as I didn't care for the stock colors on all the chips. They said if it was just one or two they would do it with no semi custom upcharge. That was a while back. I never went through with the ceremic purchase although I do like these.

Thanks. I kinda like the new Valentino high roller chips too I like you can customize a lot for an extra 5 cents

I'd definitely recommend the Tiki Kings if you're looking into ceramics. Unique color ways and designs, and no two chips look the same. Since they're made by the same people as the Lucky Dragon's I assume the feel would be the same if you want a base point for that.

The design is a little too out there for me.

I think sun fly makes the dragons and abc makes the tikis. Different chips If I'm correct

I like the design of the lucky dragons, but agree that the difference between 1k and 5k chip is way too close, and makes it super annoying to play with. A friend of mine has this set, and though i enjoy the general design and feel of the chips, the 1k/5k chip thing really causes some problems and I would not buy it myself, unless it is posible to use 5k plaques or something like that.

Not sure they are using different blanks these days, however..... only the printing tools may be different.
