So I'm planning on building a mixed THC set in 2020 but am concerned about the lead content in a lot of THC chips with my very young son around.

Everything I like is leaded, though! I adore the Cripple Creek $5's and the Aztar $25 secondaries, but alas.

What are some of your favorite non-leaded THC's? Would be looking for $1's, $5's, and $25's (to use as quarters). I have no idea about what I'd use for a nickel or dime frac, but I'd want that in a set too.

What color configuration are you thinking - traditional or cali?

Paris $1, NYNY $1 are always favorites.
Thinking more traditional colors, i.e. green $25's (quarters) and red $5's, but I'd like to factor in blue $1's if I could. I really like the Flamingo and Paris $1's as well. The blue Strat dollars are ok but are a little too plain for me.

Any of the gb chips: AS, ES, BTP, SB.
AS $1, $2, $2.50 are relatively affordable and would work for your lineup.
All of the NAGB/GB chips are unleaded, right?

Not a huge fan of the $1 and $2 AS chips personally. I like the snappers; maybe a label over project for nickels but I won't be using them as snappers.

There are other blue dollars out there that I like better than the AS $1's.

The ES primary tournament chips with black inlays are soooooo nice that they hurt, but the cost is prohibitive. All of the ES, SB, and BTP chips are sadly out of my range :(

Bally's $5 is one of my favorite Paulson chips of all time. And it's still live and available in quantity...

I should mention I'd be looking for sharp edged chips as well. The Bally's chips above look lovely but look like bike tires.

Do you have a per chip budget?
It depends on how hard I want to scrub the donkey. I'd like to spend less than $3/chip, but I'd pay a bit more for a premium chip design in excellent to mint condition.

Alright PCF mafia, I need a ruling here.

Is it a chip foul to have hot stamped chips mixed in with chips with inlays in a mixed set?

I really like the idea of Sam's Town $1's to go with my set. Thumbs up or thumbs down if the rest of the set has regular inlays?

I wouldn't concern yourself what other people think. If you like the way it looks, go for it.

If you have apprehension about they way it looks, but are going that way because it is the easiest way. You will probably be unhappy with it eventually.

I'm going to get what I like, I don't have any qualms about mixing hotstamps and chips with inlays personally.

Now, the question about whether to mill/murder the Sam's Town chips and relabel my entire set is another topic completely. That I haven't decided upon yet, but I'm thinking about it.

Does anyone here state side mill? I sold off most of my hot stamped chips thinking I was going to mill them but never had the heart to/couldn't find anyone here to do it.

Mix away! Variety is the very spice of life. Besides, if all chips are denominated, then there should be no question as to the math part of it. In our games, we expect all bets and raises to be verbally announced, anyway.

you could also get the sams town milled and label em...

In my humble opinion, that chip does look great milled...

First of all, you don't need to concern yourself with lead content in casino chips unless you plan to eat about 300 of them. There is no appreciable absorption of lead through skin or hand-to-mouth contact even over a lifetime of casino handling. Otherwise, casino dealers would have been dropping like flies with lead poisoning in the last 60 years. Even if you licked every chip before putting it in the pot for every home game you play, your exposure would be nigh-infinitesimal.

(Having said that, please do not lick each chip before putting it in the pot. You may get more stranger looks than usual.)

Otherwise, the harvestable THC $1s from Vegas are all good: Paris, NYNY, Venetian/Palazzo, Flamingo, Silver Sevens, Casino Royale, Bally's, etc. If you go blue dollar, then go white frac, and vice versa. Fairly easy to find solid white or solid blue THC represented in live chips.

The $5s is where the big decision lies. Sometimes challenging to find in quantity if that's going to be your workhorse chip.

I'm not concerned about myself or the other players handling leaded chips. I'm concerned about my small son and his future siblings getting into the chips and having the lead being absorbed by their little bodies and developing brains. I'd rather avoid the possibilty all together if I can.

White chips to use as fracs should be simple enough to find. Was thinking pink fracs though :)

I shouldn't need many $5 chips, maybe a rack should be plenty. I play mostly a .10/.20 game that is very social. I'd be shocked if I ever host more than a .25/.50 game with my regular crew.

Personally, I never understood the obsession with pink quarters in a Vegas cash progression. I think pink is too close to red ($5) for comfort. I would much rather go with any yellow, or brown, or grey rather than pink.
