Hey all!

I'm still learning about all the different chips and manufacturers over the years. After some research here I think I'm looking for the following:

- Tournament set, no $ sign, in 25/100/500/1000 and maybe 5000 denoms
- Classic colors, so green, black, purple/blue, yellow
- Hot stamp, either gold or silver is fine but probably prefer gold
- Edge spots the same design across all denoms

Anyone have any ideas on where to start finding something like these or best place to get samples? I'm in Australia. Thanks!

I think The Chip Room will be announcing part 2 of their Horseshoe Southern Indiana chip sale coming up fairly soon. There will be a bunch of pre-built tournament sets for sale. I think they are all inlaid chips, not hot stamps, though they will have WSOP branding on them.

Site vendors like CPC (Classic Poker Chips) may also have what you are looking for. I believe they have some stock designs that might fit your needs.

Otherwise you may have to take your chances with the Classifieds to see if another member has something for sale that you're looking for.

What is your ballpark budget?

Sounds like you probably want a T25/10K STT (singles table tournament) set which you can do nicely with 400 chips (120/120/50/90/20).

The Aurora Stars hit all the marks for you.

You can also check out Classic Poker Chips which are also compression clay chips. They can make customs for you and they also have off the shelf chips as well.

Depending on your budget, @Pinball has a solid, hot stamped B-mold set for sale. Except for not having edgespots it would fit all your requirements.

In general I would say that Paulson hotstamped tourney sets with uniform spot patterns are not terribly common. You will find a lot more options by going for hotsmped sets without spot patterns (solids) or with different spot patterns. You can always design your own with CPC though.

Ballpark budget, I could be convinced to go $1000+ for a great tourney set I like. You're right, mostly looking for single table use. What's your ideal starting stack breakdown for 6-9 players?

Good. Yeah that’s pretty much the game I play. 10k starting stack T25 base is very common.

Chip denoms: 25, 100, 500, 1000, and 5000
Starting stack: 12/12/5/6/0
Rebuys: use 2x 5ks
Chip total: 400
Chip totals: 120/120/50/75(+\-)/35(+\-)

@BGinGA is our resident tourney breakdown expert and he recommends 120/120/50/75/35 chips. This allows for some color-ups using the 5 extra 1k chips. I personally like to do 1k bonuses for being on time so I like more 1k chips.

You are right at $2.50/chip. There are not a lot of options for all of your criteria regardless of budget for Paulsons. If you want Paulsons you would have to be flexible on one of your criteria. But I suggest getting Paulson samples and CPC samples. You can make a custom CPC set in your budget or buy a used one for sure that would fit all of your criteria.

Also, unless you go custom CPCs you don’t have easy and complete control over the exact number of chips you can acquire. Since you only plan 9 people Max you can also go with a. Easier breakdown of something like 100/100/60/80/40 etc. The 9th player can just get his/her 10k chips however you see fit and immediately make change.

edit: corrected my errors per @BGinGA

@Eloe2000 -- 10k starting stacks are 12/12/5/6. Ten players means sixty T1000s plus 15x to color-up the T25/T100 chips = 75 total T1000s (minimum).

Moar chips is usually good, but for a budget 400-chip set, more flexibility is gained with extra T5000s. If passing out 10x T1000s for bonuses, 120/120/50/85/25 is the optimum breakdown for 400 chips.

USD or AUD? You need to factor in shipping by for 100-600 chips is about $75usd as well.

PS love the avatar. I spent many hours playing through banjo Kazooie. No game developer has even come close to being as awesome as Rare were in the N64 days. Throwing a toilet paper at a giant turd. Winning

A great budget set would be BCC fun nites or aquacino(not sure I spelled that right). I have the fun nites and love them. Great quality and way cheaper than Paulson. But I don’t know that there are tons of sets around.

I came across a set of hot stamps aurora stars on a YouTube video that looked awesome - I think those are hard to acquire

Yep the Aurora Stars are my dream chip. I've posted asking for even just a sample set, and not even that is available unfortunately :)
