Hey guys, we have 2 sets of new design mockups that I wanted to share with you.

Both of them looked interesting to me, therefore I have them posted here and see if any of you like them. In the future more designs will be posted here and we are planning to choose a few of them for a group buy for members in PCF. It'd be highly appreciated if you could give us your thoughts on these designs. Thanks!

Here's the first set:

And here comes the second set:

Hi
Let me break the silence :)

To me these are not the most appealing designs. The plague theme might even be a bit offensive during these days... The values also maybe don‘t match majority of demand.

Some designs that u have as stock were designed back in the days on a german poker forum. Or at least are very similar to these. How about open a platform here where people could present there ideas and maybe get in return some free chips if the design is a winner?

I do like the chips themselves. Just not the inlays. Which chip would these be on, anyway?

I can't say the designs did very much for me unfortunatly.

I love your chips. You got this wonderfull asset in the polyinno line. Specially the 43mm with 25mm label. We love those here. What i would do is develop that even further. How about making molds that would allow for shaped labels? Make 3-4 shapes like Hub, Scallop, Buzzsaw and Cog, have someone of the creative guys here at the site come up with a cool design and I bet you would sell like a bazilion chips. Non-glossy sides and you might even double that.

I would have a hard time not finding an excuse for a third set from you guys with shaped 43mm polyinnos.:D

I will piggyback on this and say if @SUN-FLY Poker Chips could have different types of label options, that would be great. The shapes would be great, but in addition I'm talking about matte and glossy options, textured and smooth options. The more customization possible, the better.

Even selling blank custom designed chips (so that we could get labels from elsewhere) would be acceptable. Not preferable, but acceptable.

My opinion: Plague Doctor is a little much considering the circumstances the world is in. The design is nice otherwise.

The Butterfly Skull would be nicer if it didn't say "Butterfly Skull" and if the edge spots didn't look so similar to a popular metal slugged chip that I've seen used in home games. (can't find an image right now) Also the denoms are also not practical.

We do love your chips though. Thanks for being here with us and asking for feedback! :)

At first glance my initial thought was "Pretty cool bird design" on the first one, but quickly realized what was going on. Then after seeing the 2nd one, my thoughts were "Wow... Getting pretty morbid around here".

Medico one reminds me of the amazing mask shops in Venice. But the denomination looks like generic clip art; I think I have that exact scroll in my stock art folder

Plague doctor chips are a little much for me. The artwork for the skull butterfly is actually really interesting to me. Artwork is pretty cool. However, the name has to go.

The first design doesn’t do much for me.

I like the second design more. Though I’m personally not a big fan of skulls on ceramic chips (not sure why they’re so prevalent), I do like the artwork a lot. The name “Skull Butterfly” means nothing, and seems unnecessary. Maybe just leave out the words, and fill in with flourish.

Denomination selection for home fames is a big deal to chippers.
Most common for cash:
25¢, 50¢, $1, $5, $20 or $25, $100.

Most common for tournaments:
25, 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 25000

10’s and 50’s will get very little love on here. Some will have $2 or $2.50 for limit games.

That said, I really like your chips, especially the hybrids, and I’m happy you’ve joined the forum.

I dunno, I kinda like them both. The "Skull-Butterfly" being my favorite out of the 2. Both need to be livened up a bit in my opinion (Brightened up a little) No pun intended. Just noticed that when you mentioned it @ekricket Lol...

For general home players, or those just looking to collect samples these could work fine. Not everyone is looking for a tournament set, being most are just your normal "lets have fun & splash some chips in the middle" type players.

I love your 43mm/25 recess hybrid chips and have seen some awesome designs. I personally do not like the above designs, their colors, or their denoms.
Have you considered hiring a designer from this forum??

Given the current pandemic, that first design and associated write up is just tasteless.

The outer rim of the second design is nice, but the label is just so-so.

As others have mentioned these are dark themes that won't have broad appeal. My suggestion if you want to reach a broad audience is use bright colors and positive theme. I would recommend a Cali color scheme with the following base colors

$ 0.25 - Red / Peach
$1.00 - Blue
$5.00 - Yellow (or shake it up and use a bright orange)
$20 - Black or Purple
$100 - White

By positive theme, I just mean something fun with an overall positive connotation in people's minds. For example, the Wild Wild West, Las Vegas/Reno tributes, Fantasy Cruise Ship, Hawaii etc.

I wouldn't be buying any of those.....:nailbite::dead:

Features I like.....

Retro
denomination is large and in a cool font
Maybe a cartoony picture or design...MAYBE....

Why not simulate some US casino chips from the 50s/60s that people like....?? Change a cool Stardust or Circus Circus chip with the little ringmaster guy as little as you have to to deal with any trademark/legal BS. There are so many cool designs that people ALREADY LOVE. No need to convince them to love.....a plague doctor....

I am available to assist for consulting fees....or free chips :wow:

I want to echo these comments.

In addition to the denomination selection, the denoms get a little lost in the butterfly skull set, and are small-ish relative to the total size of the landsacape. They could stand to be a bit larger in both sets.

Finally, the color selection for the denominations could potentially be problematic. You all probably know the home market at large better than we do, but having generally nonstandard colors across the board could lead to some bet sizing problems for players. For example, very rarely do you see a red or green $100 chip, or a red $1k. For those looking for something new/different, that might be appealing. For those looking to minimize roadblocks to good play, those would work against the sets.

You GUYS did a few sets for some GROUP BUYS we have done here. I would say look more in any of those directions Or you could let some very talented people here do some designs and give best design a prize.

You could also just remake BW Chips. we don’t need pictures just order forms.

Not bad but I prefer nice cash set (1, 5, 25, 100) with denomination on the edges.

I have no idea why everyone is tripping over the Plague Doctor set “given the current situation”, it feels a bit weird to be offended by a poker chip with a design based on something 100s of years ago, but to each their own.

It would be nice to have it themed a bit broader: Venetian Masks, with the plague doctor just being one denom.

This is very true, +1 on this!

I'd like to add that there is a minority that prefers 25, 100, 500, 2000, 10000. I'm not in that category, bit I like mixing it up and sometimes use that progression just for the sake of variety.

In @SUN-FLY Poker Chips shoes I would consider adding a 2000 and 10000 to the stock options. Not expecting to sell many, but as a service.

Also, I would consider (if possible) letting customers setting there own denominations, for a premium of course. Like a "semi custom" for those that don't want to design there own chips but still wants to change the denoms. Perhaps have a text section and a denom section that customers may specify, and price this in between the custom and the fully customized price points.

E.g.
Mr Winberg's Card Room
$1337

Just a thought...

20'000 deaths in Italy, the image of "Dr Beaky of Rome" and the 'Plague Doctor' wrote

I’m not saying we should make light of the current pandemic, I’m saying I don’t really think a poker chip based on a 17/18th century mask is offensive. There’s a remote link, but jeez.

De gustibus etc, just my 2 cents :)
