Hi,

I am looking for a set that would support 8 players in a micro stakes setting. Currently, my friends and I use 4 colors and 10 chips a color of the classic die chips that everyone has. I am looking for a quality set for my micro stakes game but at the same time, that won't break the bank. A listing I saw that I liked a lot is linked below. If you have any recommendations please reach out.

Get samples!

Question:

Are the 16 cent per chip Monte Carlo chips from Apache Poker Chips going to have decent/good consistent quality?

I've played with the smooth edge ones, but I don't know where they came from as I didn't know anything about chips then.

I liked them, but did not like how the 100s and 500s blended together.

Make sure to check out the cards mold in the group buy section. I don't own them, but have a sample coming.

What's your budget?

Looking to get one set to start but then expand to a couple in the near future (Micro Stakes Set, Normal 1 5 25 100 Set, and a Tournament Set) 600 chips per set? Seems to be the trend?

Budget area 100-250

Yep, 600 chips is standard, but you could probably get by with fewer. Pharaohs and Majestics from Apache have stock nickels, but some of those micro denoms are out of stock at the moment. :(

You could also get a set with 1/5/25/100/500, and use it divided by 10 for 10¢/20¢, or use dollars as cents.

So I see that these ones are .43 per chip compared to Monte Carlos which are ver very cheap like .13 per chip. Am I going to see a major quality difference between these two?

The cards molds are easily the best bang for you buck, if you can wait 6-8 months. Fully custom decent quality ceramics for ~40¢/chip, can't be beat.

Something like this:
5¢ x 100
25¢ x 200
$1 x 200
$5 x 80
$25 x 20

That will give you $1100+ bank, and cover 5¢/10¢ up to a modest .25/.50 game.

They do really sound like the best from everything I have read through so far. Though I am quite young and fresh into the poker scene I have plenty of time to think about getting some in a future group buy. I do though although have great interests in some of these sets from the Apache Poker Chips. What would I see differences-wise between the .16 and .46 per chip? Also for like a 5/10 cent blind game what would be a good 600 chip breakdown. Mosy likely including one/two barrel of 5s and no 25s. Thanks for all the help.

5¢ - 100
25¢ - 200
$1 - 200
$5 - 100

I have run two tables of micro stakes with double this so one table should be fine right here

IMO, the main advantage with the China clays is that they are not slugged, so they are more in the 9g/chip range, like most actual casino chips. The secondary advantage are cosmetics, particularly the Royals, Pharaohs and Dunes, which have spot progression.

I haven’t handled all the less expensive chips from Apache. They’re ok, but they are heavy and can be very slippery. Avoid the Showdowns/Poker Knights. I don’t think they feel good at all. Hard plastic, rough edges, and drab colors.

My favorite cheapies are the Monaco Casino set from Discount Poker Shop. They have nice edges, a softer feel, and stack pretty well. The Outlaws from the same seller seem to get good reviews, too. They’re 12¢/chip. You could get plenty to cover all your needs for not much money. However, they don’t have nickels, so you’d have to relabel some as nickels, or find some other solution.

After checking out numerus chips and receiving a sample today, two words:

Cards Mold

Best of the "cheap" chips I've sampled!
