Soooo….. like many who have found this wonderful forum my account seems to have taken its first hit with the purchase of a set from BrPro. 760 tiki kings with the plan on building it out to 1000 pieces if the game warrants it. I got samples of these and really liked them. They replaced by set of China clays which I sold on here also.

I have spoke with a few members on the tiki kings as stacking is high on my priority list. When I say stacking I’m referring to stacks being stable even when stacked 40 high. Unfortunately I still have my doubts on ceramics and their stackability. I guess I’ll have my answers when the tikis arrive in the next few weeks.

The fact I am asking for advice on my second set before the first one arrives is troubling but again with so many options and a clear obsession on stacking performance I ask the group. What do you consider the best chips for stacking?

A few sets I have been considering are the Jack Cinci and cpc rounder/chesterfield designs. I’m okay with grabbing a rack here or barrel there but asking the group their thoughts,

Cheers guys

I have a 800 piece Tiki Kings set that's semi custom. I love the chips, but even 20 high can be challenging sometimes.

I think anything that is Paulson or CPC will be fine as long as they're in fairly good condition. I do love me the Jack's chips tho.

CPC is probably your best bet, brand new chips, decent cost...

I wonder why stacking solidly to 40 high is important to you. Because it’s not a reasonable expectation (at least not for a lot of chips on the market) and frankly it doesn’t seem necessary for many games. Personally I think I’d have to have over two racks in front of me before I’d start stacking them that high. So are you playing some game with a crazy lot of chips or are you just overestimating your stacking height needs to make sure you get solid chips, or what?
Anyway I’d look at mint Paulsons.

Wow, not sure why yours are so wobbly.

I have over 1000 DDLM ceramics from BRPro and they have no problem stacking 40 high, and solid as a rock. Hell, my mint, flattened RHC Paulsons wobble more at that height.

My semi custom ceramics from BRPRO stack easy enough .....

I just built this and I am piss drunk right now!

Most paulsons would stack that high. Most chips in general would stack 40 high. I often stack my chips that high. I think a little wear actually helps the clay chips even out, so slightly used are probably a bit better than spanking new for Paulson. (I still prefer minty)

It’s not like I ever just stack 1 single chip stack up to the sky, They all lean on each other, you just need a couple rows at least.

I usually do a 10 barrel triangle and then if I’m having a good game start adding to the top, if I get to 40 I know I got 4 racks, think most paulsons would get 50-60 this way easy.

The weighted plastics might have slight advantage over everything else, my stacks at commerce casino and Hollywood park seem to have no limit to heights.

40 high does seem excessive/unnecessary but to each their own. BCC Samurai Palace stack like absolute bricks. There’s a photo here somewhere of a 400 chip tower of those. Might have been @Seeking Alpha Social Club who posted that?
Yes they do. :) None of my other chips stack near as good. Even my grandson can stack the heck out of Samurais (bottom pic).

Heavier and bigger chip (43m) casino grade chip are going to stack better than the lighter and smaller chip(39m) counterparts

Most casino grade chip can stake 30-40 with no issue as I have a player in my game who also like to stack chip in towers too

You got it exactly. Overestimating potential stack heights to make sure I get a solid chip is exactly what I’m doing! Guilty as charged.

I do have players that will have a large stack in our 1/2 game and do stack two barrels high at times.

Thanks and agreed on Paulsons being the next set.

And this is where my concern comes from. You report they are rock solid and the other OP says 20 are wobbly. Makes me nervous lol

All the kwel kids call it ‘all in configuration’, because its easier to push

CPCs on the left, BRPro ceramics on the right, but I only rock 43s in ceramics

I would say that CPCs are more solid than ceramics. But I would also say that Brpro’s ceramics are more solid than most ceramics.
I suggested mint Paulsons over CPCs for a couple of reasons, but mostly because you’re apparently new to poker chips. CPCs are best as fully customs and I wouldn’t recommend that anybody put thousands of dollars into custom chips after being in the hobby for a month. CPC does have some stock options but they’re limited and boring in my opinion and their resale value isn’t great so personally I’d avoid them. And finally, CPC has like 15 different molds available. I’m approaching a decade in this hobby and I still haven’t handled all of them. I think I’ve actually played games with three of them. So if stacking is important to you, then getting the right mold is probably if the utmost importance to you, so I wouldn’t recommend CPC as your NEXT set, assuming that purchase is happening sometime in the near future. If you’re waiting a couple of years, sure, start researching CPCs now.
Otherwise, just get whatever recent or near future offerings the Chip Room has for paulsons.

CPCs are not as slick, so they are easier to stack. I find the biggest factor in stacking chips is actually the table padding. Unless you are using China's Clays, which I find are very slick and harder to stack. I suppose you could use a desk (flat wood surface) to see which one you can stack higher, but I wouldn't risk my CPCs, no 'Violence for Science' here!

I’m starting to wish I didn’t order that sample set from cpc yesterday.

All signs point to Paulsons…

CPC chips stack well. You still get the odd spinner that makes a stack a bit wobbly, but they don't fall over. I've had experience with Horseheads, h mold and circle squares, but nothing much higher than 40 high (if that).

Rounders chips are cool and all, but IMO nothing compares to your own personal custom theme. If you go this route make sure to take your time and get it right.

All signs point to Paulsons…
1) a sample set is actually great, its another datapoint
2) you could resell it
3) there are issues with sourcing the perfect color Paulsons

I wouldnt get too caught up in it right now. CPCs are awesome chips, and what makes them amazing is that you can choose any colors, edgespots and your own inlay. They feel great and last a lifetime.
Paulsons are more common in casinos, but there's plenty of duds in Paulsons as well. In my opinion, new CPCs are better feeling than many used casino Paulsons...and getting unused Paulsons will cost you. Big.

And I'll even bet, the more you test your samples and hang around here, that stacking height will not remain the major priority for you that it is now.

Enjoy the ride!

Don’t regret getting samples from CPC at all! Slow down a sec. Get as many samples from as many chip types as you can…first…before making a big purchase. Make your own decisions.

I tend to rush so advice taken. Slow myself down a bit…..

I was actually thinking about cost too. And right now today, he could order a cash set of 600 mint Jumers for $1200 - that’s $2 apiece.
Good luck putting together a set of CPCs at two bucks apiece.

The only I have is location. In Canada I get hammered with exchange, import duty and crazy shipping costs.

It would blow your mind if you knew what $1200 USD is landed here in Canada!!

If you’re talking stock offerings, CPC’s are right at about $2/chip though. The main appeal with CPC is obviously the customization so you really can’t compare them at that point (with Paulsons).

I'm surprised more canucks don't ship to border towns drive down to get $$ items.

If I was closer to the border might not be a bad idea. I have a friend in Maine but only see him once a year

ask him if you could pay him to drive across the border and re-ship inside Canada, I bet it will save you money!
