What's with all the clamoring to lock threads as the solution to conversations you find distasteful?

If you don't like the direction a thread is taking, why not just STOP READING THE DAMNED THREAD and let it die a natural death?

Are you that weak that you have to beg the mods to do your thinking for you? The mods are not your mommies...
