I have been listening to the Dat Poker Podcast for a little while now (thanks for the recommendation @Highli99 ) and the past couple of episodes I've heard the phrase "bum hunting". Apparently, bum hunting is a strategy that is where you find terrible online players and you jump on their table and immediately leave once they leave. You are essentially targeting their money and once they are done, you are no longer interested in playing.

What do you all think of bum hunting, and how do you find that it is different from general table selection in a live setting?

I think you of all people should know how I feel about bum hunting ...

I think bum hunting is bad when you leave when the target player sits up. I only play in private online games and while there are definite donators in the game it is imperative that the profitable players make the experience fun for those individuals. Sometimes that means doing slightly -EV things.

I will not play in big online sites mainly because I'd be bum to target. Better be the big fish in a small pond than the small fish in the big pond.

In a casino though - bum hunt away!
