Last chip set ever? (1 Viewer)

I'm in a similar situation. I have Majestics, Tiki Kings, and EPT replicas. I also am tempted at the Rounders CSQs.

The reason I would go with the stock CPC instead of customs is, I guess you would call it designer's remorse?? I know if I made customs.....a few months later I would be looking at the chips and think I should have done a different color, or a different edge spot, or different graphic. Going with stock will remove all of these future doubts.
If you don’t want to do customs, there is nothing wrong with the Stockers. I know they are “boring” or “played out” but when I was hosting, I used my Rounders a lot and everyone loves em.

Who cares really? If customs isn’t your thing…

My first purchase after joining in Mar2019, was a 700 set of Rounders CSQ. I have since grown the set to 1200+….why??? Because they rock. Add value to any chippers sets, and they are a hit with the gang. Excellent price point. Durable. I can go on and on.

You can always sell them for a bit below cost if needed. If you have customs, definitely harder to sell unless they get love from everyone. So it’s a bit murky. I’ve been here 3.5yrs and I’d still never dare throw the money at it. I’m a weak minded no artistic talent chipper. So I steer clear.

You want "last chip set ever", which I assume means you want it for the rest of your life.....
then consider it an investment that will be mitigated over time. CPC is probably your number one path for this. Also, if you can't think of anything you really would want as a custom chip, there are some beautiful hot stamp sets out there. The more I see hot stamps done well, the more I love the simplicity.

Check these out by @detroitdad . Prime example of how great a hot stamp from CPC can look.

isnt the price like %50 more for customs?
also im no designer so i fear i couldnt design anything better.

i have zero desire to ever resell. i dont see what the point of that would be for me. i would just lose money for a lot of work.
i actually dont like the rounders movie at all lol i just like the simplistic design on the 4 edge spots but mostly want the CPC,s for the quality clay chips which i currently dont have any good clays which is why i seek info
I made my CP HS blanks for under 2 bucks a chip for bases. Working the levels can save so much money.

we might as well be the same person.... i couldn't agree more. i been trying to do my own design recently with the tool on here and literally change my saved designs every single day wanting something different every time i see a new chip.... also i absolutely love my prestige chips and all the guys have been ranting about how they love them too so im kinda content for now. you should check those out. $1.10 per chips but at least they are always available to buy from sun fly

For customs, take your time, get samples, stay true to your theme, and ask for feedback. This will allow you to rule out all, or the majority, of the "I should have" scenarios. Maybe you won't be 100% happy but you can get in the high 90s, and they'll be meaningful to you and/or your group of players.

Until you have a good idea for a theme, stock rounders or Key West would be my choice.

I was once like you. Started with cheap plastic sluggos, migrated to ceramics, got several sets of them, looked at clay prices and decided they were crazy, got china clays and more ceramics. Then I got my first TRK chip and fell down that rabbit hole. I was anti Paulson for a long time but finally curbed and got a set of RHCs. Then decided I wanted THCs and am in the process of building that set.

There are many ways to get minty Paulsons for not silly prices:
- The easiest is to buy from chip harvesters - you can get blue, white and green THCs harvested from casino $1 and $2 chips. You'll pay approx. face value +$1 for these. There are a couple of yellow chips out there but they're RHC. If you want all RHC or are not fussy about the mold, this is much easier.
- The next is to wait for a ChipRoom sale - they are unpredictable but there are usually a few each year with a large number of chips available.

My main advice to you would be to consider this is a long game. You've been on the forum less than a year yet are already looking for the "end game". Most of us spend years chasing such a set and never get there.

CPCs are great, you can get this set (as an example) with your own inlay for an average chip price <$2.

The end game of chipping for me will be when I'm 6 ft underground. The journey of the next set is always the most fun.

There's an end to all this?
I have to believe there is. I do feel it can vary with each type of chipper and their ultimate purpose here. Mine has always changed and evolved with my world as it changes also.

I truly believe I’m on a path to freedom from PCF. I got away for 3 months the last time, but this time, I’m fixing to get away indefinitely.

I believe there is an end for me and im close to reaching

See you in 6 months!

See you in 6 months!
I’ve systematically sold every last rack, single, and sample that keeps me addicted to this mess.

I’ve got completed sets for a non existent game that can’t grow.

My chances are pretty good. Good as it’s gonna get. If I come back again, then I’m a sucka fo life!

There's an end to all this?
The only way I ever see there being an end to this is to change my PCF password to something I will not remember, then log off and stay off for a couple of months. And I suppose pack up all my chips and don't play poker for a long while. Cuz yeah, I have plenty of poker chips to last for the rest of my life. But you DEGENS keep pulling me back in with custom designs and chips I've never seen before, plus all the other cool chips I don't have yet. And meetups. And all the great relationships I've formed here. PCF and chipping coming to an end would be like losing a huge chunk of my family. So sorry suckers, y'all are stuck with me for a while longer...

Well..........I just ordered some Prestige samples!
