Hi all,

So @colter ripton very kindly tipped me off to some chips on offerup within driving distance of me, and I went ahead and picked these up.

After a quick search on ChipGuide:

They seem to be in excellent shape considering their age! Does anyone know more about these? I couldn't seem to find any other threads discussing these casinos or these chips elsewhere on PCF.

Anyway, what may be much, much more interesting is the effect that these chips had on my wife. Up until now, my wife didn't care for this new chipping hobby of mine.. at all. Now, after seeing these chips, she has started to say things like "I like your new hobby" and "those chips are so cool, you should buy more chips."
Needless to say, this took me by surprise.
Whatever sort of mystic voodoo these chips have, I like it!

I am not the most knowledgeable on this stuff so I am sure someone will correct me, but the first chips are LCV (long cane) THCs. If I am not mistaken these may have been manufactured by C&J, not Paulson.

The second chips I don't recognize the mold (maybe MD-90 zig-zag) or maker, but you can find it here (you will probably find this interesting if you haven't seen this yet).

And regarding the wife... just go ahead and marry her again. She is a keeper.

I believe they are indeed C&J. After some searching on the forum, I found that CJ chips are slightly larger than 39mm in diameter, which would explain why I cannot fit one into a 39mm airtite.

Yep it looks like MD-90 zig zag, by Noll and Co. in Pasadena, CA, a stone's throw from where I live. Super cool!

I love learning new things about chips and that site is a great resource, thank you!

Often the older chips have a very pedestrian logo or text, but those Monte Carlo's have a gorgeous design. And they are in fantastic shape.

Oh, wow, I love the way those black chips look! And yes, that's the Zig-Zag mold, which in my opinion is a very cool mold. Congrats on your find.

Nice work getting your better half interested in the hobby too! For my part, The Wife has been very patient with me over my newly-found obsession, and over the months has grown to appreciate some of my chips as well. That itself was a surprising and very welcome development! Now she'll offer her opinions on various auctions I'm looking at; happily, we have similar tastes (after twenty-five years I'd certainly hope so!).
