I’ve actually got two questions.

1. Can I clean my newly acquired sams towns 1s in an ultrasonic with lundmark tsp?

2. Can sams towns 1s be easily labeled over for a semi custom set?

I’ve searched forums and found conflicting information

1, Yes

2. Yes, but it won't look good. You see, the pressing of the hot stamp causes ridges and valleys in the surface material, and a sticker applied over top would not hide these. You would be able to see outline of the hot stamp through the sticker, especially at certain angles where the light will reflect off it. This is why hot stamped chips are milled to get rid of the stamp (and create a flat recess for sticker application), or well-worn chips are chosen where the hot stamp has already worn smooth so there are a minimum of ridges and valleys (but the chips themselves are poorer condition, though cheaper to acquire).

You can definitely clean them. But to label them you really should mill:

I may just keep them and use them with another set I have. They aren’t mint or I’d sell em on here. I’ll post pics when they come in.

I may know a guy who likes dirty and worn Sam’s dollars  :whistling:
