The Key West Resort & Casino announces its
NEW $20 chip for 2017

Our new $20 chip will be Dayglo Saturn with Green 312 spots
Last year, we started a discussion on what a new $20 chip might look like for the Key West line. There were some great suggestions. I really liked several, and seriously considered several of the other combinations offered. (Canary with chocolate and Saturn with chocolate looked fantastic, too.) The fact that I could not decide for a year shows how difficult the choice really was for me.

Reasoning for this selection:

First, I wanted a distinct $20 chip that would go with the Key West colors. The new design clearly calls to mind lemon and lime, and goes well with the Key West logo. It's also the color scheme that got the most votes in last year's poll.

Above, you see the new $20, and in the lower part of the frame it's shown with two other chips -- the nickel and the $1,000 chip.

The new $20 is most similar to the $1,000 chip, but I think the colors are distinct enough. Also, I seriously doubt a $20 and a $1,000 would be on the same table at the same time. They're made for different tables -- one tournament, one cash. And if you're playing a cash game with $1,000 chips involved, what would you want with these chips when you could be getting comped at a casino in Vegas?

I also felt it would be important to have some green on the chip. It's value is closest to the $25, so this made sense to me. There would be no reason to have a $20 and a $25 on the same table. The $20 would clearly be for a cash table. When I thought of a new $20, I immediately thought of some shade of green, and had the $20 bill in mind the whole time.

While considering the choices, I really liked the canary and chocolate offered by BGinGA, and the Saturn and chocolate suggested by BrianB. Those chips were so similar to the butterscotch / chocolate nickel in the set that I thought they were too close in appearance and too different in value.

In the end, the choice was extremely difficult. I hope you like the selection.

New $20s expected in 2017

Right now, a new order is in at Classic Poker Chips that includes a very limited number of the new $20 chips. If you are seriously interested in a rack, a barrel or a sample, please post here. If we go over the number I've ordered, David, Jim and the good folks at Classic have been kind enough in the past to allow me to add to the order up until the chips are actually in production.

Interested to have a sample. How much will it cost if I want to get this together with the other 12 denom?

$1.69 per chip x (number of chips) *

Blue $1 chips are $1 and can be cashed in at any time in the future.

* There may be a special on the $20s when they arrive early next year. Still working on the numbers.

I'm pleased to announce the arrival of our latest shipment of Key West chips from Classic Poker Chips. The cartons of chips arrived today, and include a supply of our new $20 chip, pictured above. The new chip is Dayglo Saturn with green 312 spots. (More photos to follow in the next few days.)

The new $20 is the latest denomination in the Key West line. Others include NCV, 5 cents, 25 cents, $1 (white) $1 (blue), $2.50, $5.00, $25, $100. $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $25,000, and six colors of solid roulette chips. The $1 blue chip is available for $1, and can be cashed for $1 at any time. Other denominated chips, including the new $20, are $1.69, and roulette solids are $1.30 each.

Members who have placed formal orders and / or prepaid for sample chips will be receiving them soon. Packages were prepared this evening, and will ship in the morning. If you're interested in sample, a rack, or really any number, PM me here on PCF.

GREAT choice going with the dayglo Saturn @dennis63. (y) Pics do not do that color justice!!

You're right. The color is something unexpected, and you just have to pick the photo that looks closest. When these come out of the box, they almost look like a ripe banana in the supermarket. The base color is very clearly different from anything already in the other denominations. There's a definite tropical vibe with this chip.

Got mine today, thank you! I agree the color wasn't at all what I was expecting even though I've got the color samples so I had a rough idea of what to expect. I think it's because the white inlay makes it appear a bit lighter than the normal base chip. If I cover the inlay and edge spot and hold the sample on top they're exactly the same, but if I lay the chips side by side the sample looks darker. Weird.

Got my $20's yesterday as well. 105 of them. (y)

Now the question is, do you oil them or not? And if so, edges only or faces too? What are you all doing?
