KEMs..... UNBOWED.. UNBENT..... UNBROKEN (1 Viewer)

My parents had a set-up of Seville-style bridge-size KEMs, which lasted three decades of very light use, but I 've read very negative reviews here about today's KEMs, especially in relation to the price.
Send me a used set-up (that you won't use anymore) for free (shipping on me) and I 'll get back to you. :)

They’re great cards if they remain unbowed. I believe it’s some combination of heat and humidity that caused them to bow. The weather is fairly mild here and I try to keep them out of the heat and have had mostly positive results but they are not all bow-proof.

I LOVE KEMs. CHANGE MY MIND.......
So far I heard following:

They bend.......that is true that after few months of use 3 Times a week for at least 8 hours stright they bent a little....thats true
They crack....do you know that if you live your KEM in sunshine and warm (above 30 C d) your KEMs may crack like ice on the surface (happend to me , happend to my friend....so do not leabve your cards in car in sunny weather)
They become a little gummy and uneasy to shuffle ...after at least few months.....do you know that you can wash your KEM? even in washing mashine yousing net for delicate garmament and with mild detergent.
They break on corners...very rare but it happends ...happend twice after some sour looser tossed them in anger.......

Looooove me some Kems. I had a pack bend on me because they were unused and sitting in the box for like 6 months. They were still shrink wrapped so I used rubber bands and dealer buttons in the small plastic case to cramp them shut. The above item seems legit though.

Kems are great. All plastic cards have their flaws based on my experience. But once they are bowed it is time to throw them away.

I like and use the following cards with known flaws I found:

@desjgn Jumbo Index Stock B (No complaints)

Kem ( some tend to bow ) ( some don't)

Fouriner Congress ( bow the long way)

Pitanik ( ink doesn't hold and fads quickly )

Gemaco Superflex (Discontinued) ( can crease and no replacements around )

I find you just need to replace any brand of decks from time to time.

my first setup of KEMS lasted several years over thousands of shuffles. I was sold on KEMs only needed to buy a few decks to last me for years. Then, I started reading bad reviews about KEMs and I was wondering why some people had bad experiences. I read about them being bought out by USPC and was wondering if the KEMs I had were pre-USPC. Sure enough they were. Every KEM setup I have bought post-USPC have bowed, and some have cracked. I play way less poker now and they just do not seem to hold up like they used to. I'm not sure when the exact date they changed, but pre USPC=Awesome, post USPC=buy something else

As a recent chipper, one thing I did not expect was to pay 100 bucks for some playing cards.

I just have a KEM and Copag setup, but after seeing all the rave reviews, decided to pickup every current setup @desjgn offers. I haven’t even received my setups yet, and based just on the interaction and support so far from Desjgn (without my asking), I know I won’t have to ever worry about the cards.

My parents did too...they actually played bridge in a home league with friends and these cards saw good use, including being put in those card holders used in bridge. Word is when they sold to USPC, quality diminished.

I prefer the feel of Modiano cards most, but Kems are fine. Best? No. Maybe 4th or 5th.

It also depends on the continent you live on.

Modianos and Dal Negros (practically the same company now) are excellent, durable plastic cards with a nice papery feel, and, however unethical and crooked the bosses may be, you just can't beat them at $4 or 5 per deck (that's the price in Greece).
Furthermore, Modiano offers the only very nice quality 4-index jumbo cards I know of, while the acetate Modiano Platinum should be the best cards in the world, hands down (very expensive though, at $25 per deck, even in Europe).
I can likewise imagine of Ferrari's bosses refusing to honour their warranty on ceramic disc brakes (a $20,000 option) 'cause you race-tracked the car, as if Ferraris and ceramic brakes were supposed to have another use.

Fourniers and Piatniks have got excellent feel too (I 've read somewhere that plastic Piatniks are practically Fourniers too), but for some reason are either too hard to find or very expensive or both on any continent of this Earth:rolleyes: (with the possible exception of former Austro-Hungarian territory).

In the Americas, from what I 've read, Bicycle Prestige are a safe bet, while Designs look nice and everybody is happy with them.
Copags are too slippery, especially when new and KEMs, ...well back to square 1.:)

Modiano, Desijn, Fornier, Piatnik, Kem. I don’t have experience with Bicycle prestige.
Some of the Piatniks I used bowed along the long axis.
