From Apache, I've read great things but have only ever owned Copags and Kems, so looking forward to seeing this set when it arrives. Pretty pricey, but I've heard there's no comparison and they are worth it. Wound up going with the Jumbo Index

I own setups from a dozen different quality manufacturers, and these are by FAR my favorite. When I run multiple table tourney's, I try to use different card setups for different tables (alleviates any potential issues). However, I am glad my tourney director status keeps me planted at the main table (with the Modiano's), where I am running the software and handing out cash chips...

You done good with these. You won't be disappointed.

Now, if you haven't played with plastic cards much, they're like switching from a Hyundai (no offense) to a 480hp Ferrari 4-speed... You might grind the gears a little at first, but once you get the hang of it, the performance is unparalleled.

Do these also come in bridge size?

As far as I can tell, it's poker size only.

I'm really happy with the Modiano Da Vincis, (compared to Copag, Cartamundi, Fournier, and especially Bicycle Prestige). The setup I just ordered was Modiano Club as a gift, which I'm curious to try. Anybody have some comparisons between the Da Vinci, Club and PA cards?

Glad to here it. I just bought 7 set ups on Amazon with a gift card but passed on the PAs this time. I settled on some Modiano Cristallos, Da Vinci Sorrentos, Da Vinci Sienna, Da Vinci Persianos. The price was right on the Cristallos and the guys over here need to stop friggin' hosting with cancelled crappy casino cards and other junk. They will make a few nice gifts for the two guys who host (other than me).

I prefer to have jumbo index in both poker and bridge sizes. Poker for the Hold'em games and bridge for Omaha and Stud games.

Just received my Modiano sets the other day. one set of the PA which have a great feel to them and two sets of just regular Modianos. I also like those two sets.
I have only used Copag sets but compared to the Modianos I wish I had ordered them a long time ago they are great!!!

I've only used Copag variants since I started playing poker. How are other plastic cards like these better/different?

the thing I noticed right out of the case was the fact they felt more stiff like regular paper cards. I'm probably in the minority on this but I prefer paper over my copags but my friends cant seem to not screw up a deck every night we play.

The Copags I have are ok, but the Da Vincis feel better when riffling (like brand new paper cards) and have a perfect amount of friction between the cards (Copags slide too easily, Cartamundi Aces are a little difficult to slide together). Plus they're a bit cheaper than Copags on amazon.

Used these for many, many sessions. The only negative thing I could say about these cards is that they seem to pick up grit/grime a bit more quickly than KEMs and Desjgns (the only other cards I've used for equivalent periods). Granted, that was over probably 300 or more hours of play, but these are the only cards that I actually noticed significant build-up on before washing whereas I would previously wipe down decks every couple of months regardless.

Oh boy... there's some great threads on 2+2 that discuss ALL the facets of different cards, rating them for stiffness, flexibility, feel, thickness, etc...

If memory serves me correctly, the PA's have that desirable paper (less plasticky) feel, aren't quite as slippery as the copaqs, and are a little stiffer. The other benefit to the PA, is the A... the acetate material is more durable than regular card plastic. I've heard that plastic cards are 50x more durable than paper cards (if not more), and the acetate material is 10x more durable than regular plastic.

OK, found the thread on 2plus2. It's long, but has some amazing analysis of the different cards out there, and ranks the cards in order, based on their performance in each category. Ooo, and there's pics too :)

Playing Card Roundup

I'll add that this thread was started in 2011, and that cards (and the thread) have updated along the way. One post starts by raving about the KEMs, however, I believe KEM underwent some management/ownership issues, that translated into QC issues for many of their beloved cards.

Ahem -- no offense o_O, but the last Ferrari with a four-speed manual was the 330 series, produced from 1963-65, when their most powerful engine was spec'd at 300 bhp.

They're not much fun to drive -- I'd take the modern Hyundai.

Thanks for the info guys! And here I have been thinking all plastic cards were basically the same and that copaq was the nuts...

LOL, ok... I obviously stepped out of my wheel-house with the analogy.

I'll still take the Ferrari over the Hyundai. Can always sell it and buy a couple nice Hondas (maybe three)... (y)

Copaqs are the nutz (for entry level cheap, but nice plastic cards)

You might like the Carta Mundi Acetates. http://www.amazon.com/Cartamundi-Acetate-Highly-Durable-Setup/dp/B00KBBPA62

This is my old post from 2+2. I have always loved how Kems feel but the warping issues are a pain. I have other cards that are my favorites but are unfortunately now hard to find. I started buying cards before I fell for the chips.

Ya, I went back and re-read the thread (most of it), and laughed at what a small world it is. When I first read the thread, I had no idea who you were, and didn't remember you as the thread starter. Now, we're like long-lost cousins, lol

Can't wait 'till the MTTD when we get to finally meet and play with some great chips (and cards).

I recently bought 6 decks of Modiano for poker games ....... I like them a lot more than my KEM cards.

They are great cards.at least the bridge size non platinum ones. (I think just the regular plastic ones) All I use now at home

Personal favs are Fournier and Gemaco Superflex, the latter of which are the nutz in my book. Platinum Acetate are also good, but rank a solid 3rd - not worth the extra cost over the other two imo.
