Just had my first chip cleaning-gasm (1 Viewer)

I wish I had more of these to clean but just cleaned my first chip using one of the methods I learned about on here (dawn + hot water, soak for a few mins then magic eraser) and I had to post because of how excited I was at the difference.

Already purchased another rack of Jack Cincy $1’s from the TCR sale to start cleaning. I am way too excited about this.

Depending on your location, there are other folks who have found comparable alternatives or different brands available in various locations

For us Brits, Dawn = Fairy Liquid (or similar).
I get Magic Erasers from Amazon/eBay, great little things.

Already got the fairy liquid in the house lol. Will jump on Amazon and get some magic erasers at some point. Cheers for that, makes it a bit easier

For paulsons I am a big fan of lundmark tsp no scrubbing needed. Melts the hooker juice right off. I used a toothbrush not an ultrasound machine.

I use a tooth brush first to get out the tough stuff and then a magic eraser lightly to clear up any dirt, or discoloration after. Still learning but it takes me more than one magic eraser to get through a complete rack.

Is there a thread somewhere with step-by-step for hand cleaning, or is that unnecessary because it's really as simple as soak then toothbrush or nail brush? Any precautions to be aware of? What about Oxy-Clean? Us that safe to use? At what point do I emply the magic eraser? Only if the Dawn doesn't get everything?

Wish I could find the thread but lost track of it.

From my limited experience, you soak the chips (barrel at a time) in warm water/dawn for about 3 minutes, then use the magic eraser on them.

Magic eraser scrubbing should take you no more than 5 seconds each side to get pretty much all the dirt off.

Any dirt in those tiny crevasses is why you’d add in the toothbrush scrubbing after to try and get it out.

Chips are clean after that. Oiling is a bit longer process after that.

I pretty much use every magic eraser until it’s completely worn down to nothingness. I scrub in and out of running water because as the eraser wears down, little pieces remain on the chip but get immediately washed away under some running water.

Thanks. I did find another thread promoting Oxy-Clean or TSP. I was thinking a warm Dawn soak to loosen gunk up, followed by an Oxy-Clean soak might take most everything off with very little scrubbing required.

Does the soak water get dumped and a new one made up after every barrel? Or can it be reused for a few barrels if not too awful dirty?

wait until you try it with Hundreds of chips I use Dawn and a toothbrush my hands are so hit they are swelling lol not lol but it is what it is I need to get an ultrasonic just d0nt know which one to get yet its inbetween a 10l and 15l

Actually got an ultra sonic and it’s insane. Cleans chips so fast.
