Hey guys. I’m looking to add one denomination to these, to make a single table tournament set more playable. 12/12/7 stacks will allow for a 5k freezeout, which is fine. But if I wanted to make bigger starting stacks or allow for rebuys or addons, I’ll need another denom.

So the two big questions are what to use, and what denomination to make it.

My original thought was to use a plaque. Having a plaque for the big denomination in a tournament set makes plenty of sense. But I think I’d want an oversized plaque, since the chips themselves are pretty oversized. So that raises the question:

Who makes oversized plaques with a low (60-80) minimum?

I’ve emailed Sunfly and gotten no response. But, do those ship out of China? What are the minimums? CPC advertises plaques in the same sizes as Sunfly - are they just a middleman? Bro only lists the small credit card size plaques on their site - do they go bigger?
And what’s the deal with MSK in terms of pricing and minimums - is that even an option?

Also, are ceramic plaques any good? The only plaques I’ve handled are Matsui. Which are amazing. While I’d certainly be interested in Matsui or Matsui style plaques, availability and budget may force me to consider ceramic. Who’s handled them? I can only imagine them feeling cheap and clanky, but please, let me know.

The next option, which I can’t decide if I love or hate, would be dealer button sized ceramic. It’s part giant chip, part round plaque. It would be a reasonably priced, easy option. But seriously, I can’t decide if I love it or hate it.

WHAT DENOMINATION?
I’m leaning toward 2k plaques. FWIW, I hate the 2k denomination, not that I’ve ever played with it. It just feels a little too clever? But I think it might make sense with this set. I guess the biggest question I have with this is how well a 2k will play with only 5 or 7 T500 chips in each stack?
I think that might be the only option, though. The next obvious candidate would be a T1k. But I’d need to buy twice as many, which would be expensive. And it would also make them less “special” if each starting stack had 5-6 of these big plaques. And T500 to T1,000 isn’t very efficient.

Please share any and all thoughts.
Thanks!

Seriously, what about the 50 mm ceramic blanks that used to be used for dealer buttons? Or a appropriately sized high value jeton

I thought about that - Bro has a 49mm blank. But this is where we get into my personal oddness. I wouldn’t like that because it would be too close to the other chips. Like I’m trying to pretend it was just another denomination. For me to live with a custom solution like this, it has to be sufficiently different from the chips so that it doesn’t look like a knockoff? If that makes any sense . . .

Yeah I understand. You could make to 49 mm like a grand opening type chip or really go to town to make it jump out with the design. But you’d always find that “this round thing is not like the others”

That would be very cool. But if those are around $20 apiece, that sounds like more than I want to spend
I didn't say it was going to be cheap. I just thought it would be cool  :ROFLMAO: . I totally get the reason that you want them to be different from the FHCs. That's why I thought those PCF buttons could be an option, especially for a high denomination. But I guess even for a high denomination, getting 10 of them might break the bank.

What about the Jack NCV yellow honeycomb plaques? They might say Detroit on them though

Yeah, no, I’m thinking 60-80 of them, so $5-$8 would be my target max, I think?

Was not part of the Jack sale. They first popped up in pr0n from someone across the pond, can’t remember who. I think @Matthew627 ordered some direct from the manufacturer, so maybe he can help.

If a GB comes out of this (and we can customize), I’d be interested in the above plaque with a $20 denom.

Do a 60mm ceramic chip (ones used for DBs) as the high value chip!

There should be a good distinction between the two chip types.

Also, it would be 5mm thick instead of 3.5.

Since you’d be grabbing more than 10 you’d get edge art.

You can absolutely use the pictures. I had those ordered along with some pink 500s for my T5 Jack Detroit set. Ended up selling the whole thing. You are correct that I got them from across the pond. If anyone is interested, I can give them the contact I used. Those NCV plaques were around $7-8 a piece after all was said and done. They are pretty nice and those pictures dont do them justice. Would look cool with the Fat Hat set.

Cool. So are those MSKs?
Please PM me contact information, if you don’t mind.

I think I’ll try to fully explore “real” plaque options, like MSK, before I consider anything ceramic. So, email out to MSK. I should probably contact Matsui, but I know what their stuff costs and I don’t think I’m willing to go that high. Are there any other options I’m missing?

Abbiati but those would probably be more expensive than Matsui

I got price quotes from MSK - they’re lower than I expected, and now I’m leaning in that direction. For the most basic styles:
107x75 plaque $8.50
94x66 plaque $6.50
60mm jeton $4
Obviously shipping and art costs aren’t included, and I’m not sure if there are any setup fees either, so those prices could go up significantly with a small order, but they’re definitely doable.
The dealer-button sized jeton was probably my third choice, but looking at that price, it might be the way to go.

If anybody is interested in jumping in on this, let me know. My thinking at this point is a pretty basic yellow 2,000 plaque/jeton that would just say JACK casino, (probably no city, if other Jack folk want to jump in) and with the JACK four suits logo.

What’s the pricing on the 75x45 plaque? I have those and they are by far my favorite size. Just never get them into play.

She only gave me prices on the sizes I asked about, so I couldn’t say. But they don’t seem to offer that particular size.

Probably the 66x48
I normally like that size too. But I've got it in my head that because the chips are oversized, a plaque should be oversized too.
Although, as I said, the 60mm jeton is tempting, with that pricing.
I think I'll have to cut out some plaque sized pieces of paper, just to see how they look on the table with the chips.
