Hey guys, I really wanted to get a set of Rounders chips, but I just hate the colors of those chips. They're awesome from a nostalgia perspective, but I wanted something with a little more flair for my custom set. I'm going to do a tribute to Rounders, but I'm making it with Cali colors and going to use the California Republic bear instead of the KGB bear. Here's what I'm thinking (still not sure about the 5000 chip on the bottom right, gonna finalize these designs later. But this is pretty close to what I'm going with).

Can someone please help me with the font used on the Rounders chips for the denomination amounts? I thought I had read somewhere what the name of that font is, but I can't find it. Here are some pictures of what I'm thinking. I want to use this bear with the Rounders red font on top of these designs. Also, trying to figure out how many chips of each denomination to get. This will primarily be a cash game set, but I want to also have enough of the higher denoms to be able to run single table tourneys with friends. I'm not worried about people sneaking chips from my tourneys into cash games or anything like that. I just want a fairly large flexible set to work with. I mostly play mixed games, so I will need some fracs and 1's for antes.

I'm going with the following denoms: 50c, $1, $5, $25, $100, $500, $1000, $5000

Primarily will be playing limit games no smaller than 5-10, some NL probably 1-2 up to 5-10, and small tourneys. I'm going to buy at least 1500 chips, maybe more. Not sure how many I need. Money isn't a concern, I just want to make sure I get the right set.

Thanks for your help in advance... chip on!

Also, if anyone is interested in some sample sets of these, let me know and I'll buy extras for you.

The quarter is pretty cool looking and I like the hundo, but I am very confused by the spot progression

Not sure why, but the images are broken for me. (Chrome in Windows)

BTW the font is in the Copperplate family.

I'm no artist :) I was just going with colors that I liked and trying to maintain colors across the set

They're hosted by imgur. I'll upload them here so you can see

I think there's too much repetition of colors. A lot of these chips look very similar. If I get a chance I will play in the chip designer and maybe mock an alternative for you.

Cool, I'm eager to see what you come up with. Thx

FWIW, I'm pretty happy with the base colors on chips 1-7. The edge spots are just whatever I came up with though...

Also, no brown chips for me! I don't need anyone confusing stacks for terds on the table... could get messy

Reminds me of @Mac128k's El Camino Club chips. Don't have pr0n of the whole set, but I still dig the inlay.

I wasn't going to mock any browns with the color palat you are leaning on, but brown chips don't always look like turds!

Hmm... looks like someone's been eating cranberries and corn again!

I kid, I kid :D

Take it for what it's worth but tried to give you some edgespot progression

Sorry, I'm new to the chipping game. What exactly do we mean by edgespot progression? Is this just more colors and stripes as you move up in denominations? If so, would it be foolish of me to swim against the current on this? I don't want to make any egregiously flawed design choices if there are a set of standards I should be following.

Typically edge spots get more complex as the denomination increases. Not an absolute by any means but it helps define the chips.

Part of the problem with your original lineup IMO is that there are two many colors in the lower denim chips so you end up using the same colors over and over making a lot of the chips look too similar.

That's sorta what I was going for I guess. I wanted it to look like a set, with some integration of colors between denominations. I'll try to keep playing around with it. I'm pretty OCD though, and I hate chip designs that are just really busy looking. I usually don't like different colored edge spots next to each other. I'm definitely the oddball here though. I dislike almost every set I've seen posted on these forums, but a lot of the members here praise them, so I don't criticize. I may end up with a set that no one else likes but me... hahaha. Which means I better really, really like it, cause no one will want to buy them if I ever decide to ditch the set!

I really appreciate the ideas though. Thanks for mocking these up!

I really like the colors from that TRK set from some casino in Reno that I've seen posted. I forget the name, it started with an M I think. Pretty popular set on here.

Well having chips that look too similar is problematic for a multitude of reasons not the least of which is players will mistake which is which while in play. The problem with an eight chip set is if you use a whole bunch of colors in the low denoms it is very hard to differentiate the higher ones.

The Mapes are one of the greatest sets ever made and have phenomenal colors. It's a shame the TRK color palat is no longer available.

Ya, Mapes, that was the one I'm thinking about. Those were some sick looking chips IMO.

FWIW, the low denoms and the high denoms will almost never be in play at the same time. I'll be using mostly low denom chips for cash game play, and occasionally will use the high denoms for small one table tourneys.

What do you think of this... any better, or still fugly? Don't be afraid to hurt my feelings here guys :D

Hmmm I'm getting a broken link

Looks like imgur is experiencing some traffic issues due to NYE. I'll upload them when I'm back on my computer

Yeah, me too, although the links in the OP that were originally broken are working now. (Maybe Tommy fixed them or something?)

It's an imgur.com issue. It's an image hosting site. They are overloaded because of NYE photos right now. It'll work eventually. In the meantime, here's a direct upload.

Don't use a white on every chip. It's very noticeable and makes all the chips look too similar.

Edit: as in putting together an outfit the key is not to match but to complement.

Do you have an updated color sample? If not I strongly suggest getting one before going to far into your design. The colors vary slightly on the design tool compared to the the real ones.

Good advice. Can I order that directly from CPC?
