Is Vegas going down the tubes? Free parking, now this! (1 Viewer)

One of my favorite things about vegas is the free drinks. Unlike anything I've come across before. Don't take that away!!!

I would say I'm old Vegas, but My first trip was only 2001.

I have been back numerous times staying on the strip, but I'm a young "old school" Vegas. Only 38, but would have been ecstatic to have experienced Vegas in the 50's when the Dunes was built even w/ control by the mob before imploded in '93.
Vegas was always free drinks while gambling...even those drunkin 9am $5 Pai Gow mornings at Luxor.... "Best times ever"
But as of now I will only stay downtown, either GN (w/ the wife) or MSS!! If Boyd ruins DT like the strip I'm done with Vegas...
I can go to my local (that is now owned by Boyd) to play, that's only 25 min away ( and pay for drinks) HA HA.... I normally show up drunk, who needs to be sober to play the dark side in craps!!!
Vegas is almost this close to dead to me.... just f*ck it up one more way, and I have no regrets to ever going back..... But there was some great times had!!

Saw that article earlier today. A friend of my who was a dealer in Vegas said that they currently have no appetite for eliminating free drinks from the table games or poker room, and that the current move is heavily slanted against bartenders who were tip-farming (serving the video poker players cheap/free drinks in exchange for massive tips). That may be true, but I still fear that they will eventually target the free drinks elsewhere...and that...well, that'd be a cryin' shame.

I never get the time, but I want about 3 days in Vegas unchaperoned. I would be more in the harvest, craps, move to the next casino mode, get a great meal..rinse repeat. I don't guzzle drinks anywhere so it's not a big deal to me. It depends what they would be charging for a drink at a poker or craps table. I'd rather smack my head against the wall than sit at a video poker machine anyway. I like the closeness of downtown if there is action at the craps tables. I love the crazies. Hate the traffic, cabs, parking. Maybe I'll get a few days in Vegas after the Divide if anyone is up for it.

I can see them doing this for slots, to stop people from lurking just for the free drinks, but can't imagine that it would reach the table games. Don't know where they would come out on the poker room though. Poker is not exactly a big profit center for a casino, so they might try to squeeze a bit more profit from us via drink sales.
