Is 80x $20s enough for a .25/.50 NL & PLO game? (2 Viewers)

Realized recently that my game would massively benefit from having $20 chips instead of $25s, since people typically buy-in and rebuy using $20 bills in $.25 and $.50 BB games. Will keep my $25s for $1/1 and bigger games, but have started to pull together some chips that I plan to relabel into $20s.

Question is... Is 80 enough for a single table game? Assume $20-$100 buy-ins

Current breakdown is:
200 x .25
400 x $1
600 x $5
??? x $20
20 x $100

Definitely don't mind having a ton of $5s on the table, but just want to make sure that 80/20 of $20s and $100s is deep enough to cover anything wild.

Thoughts?

In my experience a .25/.50 game can have upwards of $14k on the table, so I'm gonna say no. That's not enough. You better also get some $500s
Ha, just saw this come up in a completely separate thread.

I’ve got a full rack of $100s and a handful of $500s and $1000s that I could always get out of the vault if things ever get this wild.

You probably have more than enough for two full cash tables.
This is the plan!

And I’ve got plenty of $25s that I could choose to put in play instead of the $20s if the game ever looks like it’s going to get super deep.

This is was more of a breakdown playability question and less of a hypothetical maximum bank needed question, since between the $25s and $100s I could probably comfortably spread up to 2/5

How big does you game actually play?

Some people’s quarter game play way larger, but I’m generally under $2k on the table. I rarely even use all my $5s in my sets, let alone $25s or $100s.

Perfect Breakdown for the top end of a cash set! $3,600 value after all those $5s, like @upNdown said, that is a great plenty and have always been a fan of the 80/20 rack! Also I absolutely prefer a $20 chip over a $25 for cash... never understood why casinos went with $25s. Never seen a $25 bill, I actually asked some top end chip collectors at the last convention and it was explained to me that cali was always $20s and other places, and that it changed when Vegas took off... wasn't very clear on the explanation.

$14k should really never be on the table in a $.25/$.50 game. Flat out you are playing the wrong stakes and false advertising to potential players. I mean I know this was a meet up but seriously that should have atleast been a $1/$2 table... just to be fair!

The craziest night I have ever seen in $.25/$.50 game was about 8 hours of circus games and about $4,500 on the table with some really loose gamblers! So IMHO a $5k bank is plenty! After that let them put $100 bill's in play!

Right. But I can imagine how it happened. Playing .25/.50 pot limit circus games, you can easily lose a $100 buy-in in one hand. And if you catch a string of bad luck, that can happen many times, quickly.
Holdem doesn’t play like that.

I just played dealers choice for 4 days and didn't rebuy once. Well, I did have to add on once, but it was @Josh Kifer money so it wasn't a big deal :)

What that means is I'll probably rebuy 5 times on Friday lol

I was following along. Very jealous.

My games are also usually under $2k on the table. Typically don’t even go through a full barrel of $25s.

Trying to think about future proofing since I’m planning on expanding player pool a bit and hoping to spread more PLO games.

How the heck did you make 14.63 in Canadian currency last you that long?

I understand that.. but we are talking 28,000 Big Blinds here... at $1/$2 that's 7,000 big blinds, also would be $200 buy ins (100 BB) for seven players (circus games table) would mean 5 buy ins per person over a long day... pretty resonable for a loose group of gamblers.

Hey we all have our opinions on that one. But for me, people that this may have been their first meet up and trying to get a feel for the "norm" or looking for inspiration to start running their own things. I wouldn't want them to come to any type of decision based off of what happened in that game. In reality as most have said here... it's hard enough getting 4 racks of $5s in play (typically around $2,500 total bank) in a $.25/$.50 game... if you are breaking the $10k mark on a regular basis... again it is just my opinion, but changes the stakes to represent correctly.

Actually very curious of say @BGinGA or @inca911 opinions on the matter of playing proper stakes to represent the game.

Sorry for any derailment of your thread @TwoHomie ... just actually very curious as now it has come up within your thread. Happy to make a separate thread if necessary sir!

Quarter/Fiddy games can play quite differently, depending on the players and the game(s) being played. Game duration also plays a part.

For most NLHE home games, $2,000 bank is often plenty (and sometimes overkill). But I've seen (and read about) marathon circus game tables where five to ten times that much in play is not uncommon.

Regarding Ben's question, I think stating the stakes along with game(s) and the normal amount in play suffices as truth-in-advertising. 25c/50c hold'em with $800-$1200 in play should not get confused with 25c/50c PLO with $5000-$8000 in play. Same 'stakes', but totally different games... and identified as such when adding the 'typically in play' modifier.

Having $25 is probably the reason same as snapper easier for pay out at Blackjack

80 is enough for most of the time but PLO quite really blown up at time esp after some drink plus cooler/heater

I am recently a fan of 60/40 for the last rack as just 1 barrel change in the this case 60 x $20 40 x $100 are enough to cover one more higher game stake (example $1/2 to $1/3)
