Hello all. New member here. I was pleasantly surprised to find this forum. I've always had an interest in poker chips and have owned a few different sets. I recently bought some Pharaoh china clays from Apache after watching most of the reviews on the hobbyphilic youtube channel, which is also how I found this place. I really like the look of these chips and have been learning about the Paulsons they are based off of. I plan to spend some time familiarizing myself with the glossary of terms used on the site and maybe starting to collect a few barrels here and there. I like the look of square edges and bright multi-colored edge spots on the Paulsons. I have seen various Paulson Pharoahs for sale and would like to start by learning more about this set. I've noticed the non-denominated ones seem to be less popular and people make their own labels for these. Is this just personal preference? I've seen the term "murder" tossed around on PCF so I'm assuming it's not for everyone. I'm also curious to learn about different moldings used on these chips. Are there certain moldings that are more collectible? I've seen some styles that say Paulson and some styles that have the suits molding.

Welcome. Paulson has an array of moulds. They no longer sell to the home market, but chips like Pharoah's and CDIs are on the home mould, offered while they where still available for purchase from non casino entities.
Everything else most commonly seen is THC, RHC, and IHC.
THC chips are becoming less common as more casinos convert to RHC chips. IHC chips are oversized (43mm) while standard casino chips are 39mm, so IHCs tend to be more expensive. All chips produced now are non leaded as well.

It is probably 50/50 for people who murder and those who don't. Non denominated chips are perfect for this.

Hope this helps, Brie
