Hello everyone!
I'm relatively new to the forums here, and I'm excited to showcase my first fully custom set of ceramics: the Blaqk Palms tournament set on Chipcos, just delivered today courtesy of @BR Pro Poker.

Finding PCF and digging more into the chipping world over the past several months, I knew I was going to want to invest in a tournament set for the way my home games had been going, and really wanted to put the effort into something fully custom and personalized yet not overly cost-prohibitive, so down the ceramics rabbit hole I went. I bounced around a lot of ideas for themes and inspirations based on my interests, but when I landed here I knew it was the right choice. The core art of the chips is pulled from a band named Blaqk Audio (a favorite of mine, obviously), from their most recent record titled Beneath the Black Palms. With 'palms' already being a familiar theme in the casino/chip world, I felt it would make a perfect mash-up. Thus, the semi-fantasy "Blaqk Palms Poker Club" moniker was born and I got to work designing!

I'm super happy with how they turned out; BR Pro did a great job with everything. I was a little nervous about my edge designs since getting printed samples with the edges included isn't really an option, but upon unboxing everything today I'm happy to say that they turned out great. Next up: a similarly-branded custom small cash set from CPC. :)

I cannot wait to get these into action. They turned out great; I'm glad I got to see the design evolve over time. Nicely done, amigo!

Hey thanks!

Obviously these are a done deal and I'm very happy with them, but would welcome anyone's thoughts on the design, edges, etc. There's a 0% chance that these are the only full customs that I ever have made (not to mention helping friends with some designs), so when the time comes to revisit the design process I'd love any feedback from other chippers.

Very well done ceramics. Love the bright colors and the face patterns. Outstanding job!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I'm happy to also say that after sharing these images on IG and making a few choice tags, the original artist of the central palms design from the Blaqk Audio record, as well as the singer for the band, both responded positively to the project which was very gratifying.

I've got some other takes in the works to order some double-sided bounty/all-in chips, and may design myself a dealer button to round out the set as well.

Dibs on THE BUTTON if you replace it. ;)

Very nice! I'm wanting to do a custom set and ceramics seem more flexible on design. I've only used ceramics though at some table games at casinos, never in a poker tournament. Did you play with any before your purchase? How do you like them in comparison to other types?

Hey thanks!

I had played with ceramics before (@t3hcardshark who just responded above owns an EPT replica set), in addition to ordering a wide variety of samples during the lead-up to finally settling on this type + design. I've handled other ceramic samples, CPC samples, some cheaper stuff, have played with China clays, casino chips, etc. For me I have no issue with the ceramics in terms of feel or usability, and it really came down to wanting to create a full-faced design for this particular theme as opposed to liking them more or less than any other style. At some point I'll absolutely be getting some proper custom clays from CPC to make a cash set (also will be Blaqk Palms themed to round out the entire home set), but again I didn't postpone those due to preference per se; more so it was the cost of entry difference and the aforementioned design goals that put me on these.

I know that's a pretty middle-of-the-road response, but I hope that helps!

Updating my main set thread with pictures of today’s new additions: 60mm DBs and BR Pro’s custom plaques for use as Bounties (and reversible as all-in markers)! I was originally designing the bounty buttons as a 49mm traditional chip using the graphic in my avatar as a base, but I’ve never seen anyone use plaques for bounties and thought it would be unique!
I absolutely love how they turned out and I’m going to want to make EVERY week bounty week with my friends now. :ROFLMAO:

PS, for the buttons: I’m making sure a few friends and locals who are interested get one first, but I should have a small number left over for any potentially interested collectors. If you’d be interested in buying one you’re welcome to drop me a DM and when I’m comfortable with allocations I’ll reach back out where possible!

Hey, thanks again folks! I'm super happy with how the plaques turned out, and the buttons too! I wasn't sure about laying the text directly over the center of the art, and played with a couple different designs with it in the lower-third or circling around the bottom, but the unmistakable naming front-and-center felt right, and I think they turned out great.

Next up: branded seating chips, and some custom cut cards...somehow...

This set looks so professionally done. I don't think high-priced marketers could have done a better job. It's colorful, distinctive, unified, and well organized.

I really like how the denomination colors are so easy to differentiate at a glance and how they clearly dominate the edge graphics.
