GROUP BUY INTEREST THREAD:

MLP SEATING POKER CHAIRS

1754bc.jpg

What:
MLP Seating deals exclusively business-to-business, and provides professional-quality chairs to the casino industry. We were recently able to put an order through with them, and we now have access to purchase MLP's high-end stock.

This is an interest only thread to see if it's possible to do a group buy of these chairs.

Price:
The chair shown in the photo above is an MLP Model 1754E stackable flex-back poker chair. It retails for $569.79 per chair, plus shipping. The full vinyl version that Tommy recently got for his poker room retails for $587.42, plus shipping.

Click to see Tommy's Poker Chairs in all black vinyl:

http://www.pokerchipforum.com/showthread.php/930-My-new-MLP-Seating-flex-back-poker-chairs

As a group, we can get these for MLP's casino price, as if we were buying more than 100 chairs. That's about half the retail price.

Choices:
Group Buyers would be able to select the seat and back fabrics from a list at MLP. Here's the materials list for Group 6:

http://www.mlpseating.com/cgi-bin/fetchdocument.plx?document=MLP_Group_6_Fabric_Sherpa_Shire.pdf

How it would work:
1. Right now, it's "interest only." Post if you're serious about getting some really nice, true casino-quality chairs for your game room and want to get them at "casino pricing." Post what you'd be interested in so we can get the best possible price from MLP.

2. If there is enough interest to go forward, I'll get a quote from MLP on the specific chairs everyone wants. (I will need your city / state to get the shipping part of the quote.)

I understand that group buyers may pick different material / color for their chairs.

3. I'll provide the quotes and ask each participant to confirm their order by a specific day and time. There will be a "payment date" set about a week later to allow people to move funds to paypal.

4. After payments are made, the order will be placed with MLP. They'll take about three weeks to make the chairs. Chairs will be drop-shipped from MLP to your shipping address.

5. You have to be a registered Poker Chip Forum member to get in on this.

Scheduling:
I'd like to shoot for chairs arriving at your house by Christmas. To do that, we'll need to "go live" and collect orders by October, and collect payment from the group in early November.

Minimums:
2 chairs -- They ship in cartons of two.

Shipping:
Group buyers will pay shipping from MLP to your delivery address. Chairs will be shipped directly from MLP to you.

Updates:
I'll reserve the first "reply" box (below) to update everyone of where we are throughout the process.

Manufacturer Info
MLP Seating of Illinois sells directly to business. Their chairs are designed for use in a public setting -- casinos, business training facilities, hospitals, etc. They're made to last a long time in a high-traffic environment. All the materials and workmanship are top quality.

I spoke with Laura at MLP today. She said this model of poker chair is designed for exceptional comfort, and you really have to sit in it to believe it. All the materials are top-quality, and the chair is sturdy. The flex hinge provides just the right amount of "give" to make the chair comfortable for a long session at the table -- exactly what the casinos are looking for when they order.

Bump for chairs! :) (Dennis let me know if you received a notification about this new post)

I'm hoping to receive an exact pricing chart from MLP today, so we can nail down a number for the various chair options here.

It would be helpful for group buyers to know exactly what they're paying.

Cool. I'm really happy with chairs that I got. So easy to keep clean. Just wipe it down with a damp microfiber towel.

UPDATED PRICE INFO:

For this buy, MLP will give us their casino rate in the "100 or more chairs" category: $182 per chair, plus shipping.

Minimum: 2 chairs
Average U.S. shipping: $42 per chair

Not bad for the 2 chair min. That is all I want to make 6 total. Going to wait until the basement is done to see exacly how much room I have when the Table is down there with the other 4 chairs.

Is there anything special about these chairs that makes them better than the 10 Gasser's I got for $15/chair off CL?

$220+ seems a *tad* much.....what am I missing?

You got one of those amazing deals on Craigslist that seem to only happen to other people, and come along only once in awhile. To get that deal, you were very lucky. You are right to brag about that deal.

These MLP gaming chairs are coming direct from MLP, and you can get the color you want and the fabric you want, rather than take what the guy on Craigslist is offering.

These chairs retail for $569.79, but MLP is offering them to us for $182 each -- the price they charge casinos for 100 or more chairs at one time.

If anyone wonders if they're worth $182, just ask Tommy. We unpacked one of these together when he got his. (He lives about 15 minutes away.) After checking it out, he's up for more of them and suggested this group buy.

These chairs are built on a base that's solid steel, bolted to the legs. They come with a 10-year warranty from the company and a money-back guarantee from MLP and from me, too.

And unlike most of the stuff on Craigslist, I know the source and I know they're not stolen.

If you have a source for Gasser Chairs at $15 each, please PM me here.

I'm sure the quality is second to none and it's nice that you can pick your colors. But I'm just having a hard time figuring out why these would be worth even the $220 price tag when you can get 3-4 VERY nice chairs for that price that will certainly hold up during most normal home games. And yes, I'm speaking from experience here - a good buddy ordered 10 chairs online for ~the MSRP of these GB chairs and they are very nice (he got to pick the colors, too). I don't see any reason to drop this kind of scratch on chairs other than to have something to brag to my friends..."Aren't these chairs nice? No big deal...they were only $220...not bad since they retail for 3x that amirite?" I'm not trying to come off as a d!ck (I know....I should try harder).

With all sincerity, good luck with this GB. I hope you get some interest.

If we changed "chairs" to "chips" in the above quote, would your opinion change? :p Now I'm wondering if there's a "pokerchairforum.com"...

Just kidding. In all seriousness, I hope the GB goes through for those who are interested in these.

I have no problem with you commenting about the price, or anything here, for that matter. Furniture is one of those things - good quality can be pricey.

At the same time, I am a vendor here, and I'm offering brand new, great quality chairs for the best possible price I can reliably get from the manufacturer, for you or anyone else here who is interested. If you are not interested in these chairs, I get that. I know Tommy looked long and hard to find the exact chair he wanted, and is happy with them. We both wish they only cost $15.

And if you can routinely get real casino chairs for $15 each, I say buy those chairs.

I'm looking to get 2 more of these. Would anyone else be interested in getting some?

Got my two chairs on order. Thanks Dennis!

I too would be in the "I can't justify spending $220/chair" camp, but pretty baller if you can. Enjoy the seats. I try to pick mine up either on CL or from a local warehouse that sells used office furniture and sometimes has garage sales with stuff that's $10-20/chair.

This is an awesome deal. If I hadn't been fortunate to grab some used Gassers from a failing cardroom I would be all over these.

I know they are pricey. I bought a customized $2k+ table with a glass topper. I wanted casino grade poker chairs that I could also customize to go with it. :) The flex backs are nice. Overflow will use nice padded folding chairs, or $25 stackable church chairs. :)

If I could sit on them first, I would think nothing of $220 per chair if I liked them. I have a $1500 desk chair at home and at work. If I could afford it, I 'd get 10 of these for poker. A long poker session is grueling enough at a casino. In some of the home game chairs I have played, it's enough to get me to leave earlier than I'd like.

We might have the same office chair. :) I got a discount through my work so it was a little cheaper. The desk was bought in 1998 and I've added pieces over the years as needed.

My side. The chair is a Concept Seating 3142 intensive use 24/7 chair. The best part is the glass chairmat.

I wish we could get a list of casinos currently using MLP chairs in their poker rooms or slot parlors. Then anyone could road-test a chair at a casino near them. Not everyone is lucky enough to live close enough to Tommy to be able to stop by and see them in person.

The "flex back" feature is really nice. When you see and feel these chairs, you get two clear impressions: They're really sold, made to last from top-of-the-line materials; and they're really comfortable. Clearly, they're part of the casino's plan to keep you in the chair.

It's funny. For all the money I've spent on other things I just can't bring myself to shell out that kind of money for chairs. Although while they look nice my chairs for my main table are starting to tick me off. Got them from Overstock.com and the damned things keep breaking.
