Sitting Out
I rarely get to play poker, I'm really not very good at it, but I really enjoy most anything old-school Vegas-style and really prefer to do things a bit better than just average on those rare occasions I do get to host a game.
I used to host one at least once a year after hours for the actors at a large sci-fi convention several years ago. A good friend of mine owned a limo service that handled a good part of the transportation for the show, I ran the photo op with the stars, and that put us in contact with them enough to invite them to a game. The owner of the show was a friend, and he always got a room for us to use at the hotel.
Sadly, years have passed as have both my friends who owned the limo service and the convention. I haven't been able to go to one in several years due to finances and my wife's health, and even so, that would be looking in from the outside.
But I can still host an occasional game at home for my friends if I get another set of chips to replace the one I had that was stolen (long story).
I hate that Paulson no longer sells to the public and that Classic, being the only game around for clay, is so expensive. But I'd settle for a nice China Clay set with no metal insert if the mold design, inlay design and stripes look classy enough like true classic Vegas. I don't care at all for the ceramics or any others that are printed on. Gimme that semi-chalky feel, with deep inventions from the mood tactile experience when handling a chip. The casino-accurate weight. An inlay with an authentic-feeling design.
