I bet some used that $25 to scratch off a book of lotto tickets.
On the 25s I'm actually wondering if some of it is a reaction from certain colors to the uv crap. Or a reaction of the red 5 base against the 25s base and edge spots. Several of them had reddish tints across the faces not just the edgespots and the inset part of the hats don't seem to be affected on any of them. No idea what to call it, doesn't appear to color transfer or cancelation
Maybe just shit quality clay or some kind of reaction from overusing hand sanitizer in casinos post covid. I've seen many a murdered chip and unmurdered with color fading and alteration from too much chemical use

The hand sanitizer use during covid is an interesting thought. Could effect both the purple of the 25 and pink of the 100.
I wonder if anyone here playing during covid saw any discoloration on theor chips due to hand sanitizer.
If it's a question of Covid or chip discolouration then I guess my players may just have a higher rate of covid. Lol
While it looks like UV damage, the fact that the indented clay areas are not faded leads me to believe it's some type of chemical reaction on the surface of the chip, either something on peoples hands or on the felt. The hand sanitizer thing is an interesting thought.

I know, I should add pictures, but too lazy to get the chips out again at the moment after doing some cleaning, but I haven't heard anyone mention stack height. I was pretty surprised to find that the stack height was very consistent among the IG chips for me. This is comparing sec $1, pri $5, pri $25, pri $100, and sec $500 barrels. I guess it speaks to the condition of the primary chips.

Well after cleaning and oiling the purples are still "multi colored"
But honestly not enough for it to be a problem for me.
The pinks on the Hundos look great when the rack is random
But if you line them up
You can see the different shades of pink.

This reminds me of something similar with the light purple spot on the Bahamia $25 chips. IIRC, in all pics of new chips I've seen, the purple is the same color, which I *think* is either Lilac or Hawaii Flower shade of purple.
But in used/cleaned chips, which I have a few racks of, and have inspected up close -- some of the purple spots have faded to an almost light blue color. IIRC, on some chips, the color of the rolling edge is more faded than the same spot on the face of the chip. And on some chips, sometimes all the spots have faded, sometimes it's just a couple of spots that have faded.
Theory: some Paulson light purple shades of clay are more prone to fading, due to UV damage, cleaning, or other reasons.

I freaked out a bit when I first saw the 25s while cleaning. I thought I caused it, but then again it is why I only clean a few chips at a time
Now that I think about it, the purple in the Native Lights $100 also has a lot of variation.

The people who manufacture, sell, and install things like stone counters and wood floors take pains to point out "this is a natural product" and therefore you're going to get variations in colors and patterns, and that you shouldn't consider it a flaw but rather an indicator of the authentic nature of what you bought.
Same thing with chips. They're not a "natural product" BUT given the environment that they come from - daily use in casinos - we ought to view these kinds of odd inconsistencies as being consistent with what they are. They're a kind of antique, and they come with all the flaws and defects that antiques acquire over the years of use, or even simply the years of existence.

Finally got my IG set up. I got lucky on the primary $1‘s… Mint 
(1 rack is a bit dirty), but didn‘t get so lucky on the bearclaw 5‘s, they are slightly used. Now all I‘m missing is 2 barrels of 500‘s. Thinking of getting rid of the primary 5‘s for the 500‘s, but I do kind of like the feel of used chips in a game. They shuffel easier and slide a bit better. Should I put a used set together. I was telling myself that this was the last set I‘m buying. For our home game 300 chips are more than enough. (5-6 people), and we already have a nice HSC set. My girl asked me why I bought these chips, … and all I could do was raise my shoulders and walk away. They just don‘t understand
