That was bullshit. It was a shoulder pad hit, not helmet-to-helmet. All of the moron talking heads on the post-game show are calling for fines and for Lewis' job, but watch, the NFL won't even fine the Bengals involved in the hit because it was a legal hit. All of this officiating is watering down what was formerly a great NFL product.

Pacman Jones is an unmitigated fucking moron though. No two ways around that. Cut his ass.

And Burfict is a hell of a player, but hes a mental midget thru and thru. When you have to be warned before kickoff about your behavior and your coach sees you as a liability, get it thru your head to not be a shithead.

Obv a horrible horrible game for the Bengals fans, but those players DID not do themselves any favors out there.

Don't get me wrong. Shoulder to helmet is illegal now, and the play was OVER. He could have pulled up and not drilled him. The Pacman thing is straight robbing his team from a win to wave his dick around.

I am surprised I haven't yet really heard any discussion/debate over the TD catch. Maybe I just don't understand the rules of what is and what is not a catch anymore seeing as it was confirmed and the announcers kept saying it was absolutely a catch. There really is no question that he did not have complete control of the ball until he had only one foot on the ground before flipping over... sure, he gained control before touching down out of bounds and he certainly controlled the ball to the ground but he never had complete control of the ball with two feet down in the field of play.

And can't believe I am seeing anyone saying the hit on Antonio should not have been a flag... just, wow. Doesn't make a bit of difference if AB dipped his head into the hit (and the rule is written as that does not matter), it's up to the defender to not hit him in the head. I can name a good number of other flags that were bullshit but that one? Uhhh, yes, it was a personal foul.

The rest of it probably doesn't matter if Hill could just hold on to the ball... WTF dude, you have one job to do there. Bengals handed that game away.

I'm sure no Steeler fans that want chips from H|Q will be waving their dicks around after this! I'm with @bergs The game is less than it used to be.

One other play I don't quite understand was Shazier's hit on Bernard that caused the fumble earlier in the game. It's OK to lower your head and hit with the crown of your helmet?

I've never seen reference to anything other than a facemask or helmet to helmet being illegal.

Brutal hit? Sure, but I didn't think that was illegal.

Agree 100% on all accounts...

Once the offensive player becomes a runner, helmet to helmet hits are considered legal.

It was a hit to the head of a defenseless receiver. Easy call.

Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
(1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder, regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him;

Once the offensive player becomes a runner, helmet to helmet hits are considered legal.
This is true but it is still illegal for the defender to lower his head and lead with the crown of his helmet unless he is inside the tackle box - ie, taking on a running back coming through the line. Absolutely should have been a flag.

My thoughts exactly. I can't enjoy a game that whose competitive balance is disrupted in seemingly random ways. Let the teams decide the outcome. The NFL is in a terrible spot. They have retired players with major cumulative trauma related disabilities which should be addressed. New safety rules are removing the essence of the game which, as Bergs suggests, is removing intensity from the game.
