I’ve been very slowly assembling a THC cash set, with a somewhat non-traditional, subdued color scheme... The common colors are various shades of tan/butterscotch, brown, and gray/black, with some edgespots that “pop” more because of the quiet base scheme.

Anyway, I’ve kind of hit a wall as far as what to use for the 25s. It seems like 95% of sets lately use green 25s. I’m open to other suggestions.

To try to blend a green in with the overall scheme, I bought two racks of Venetian 2s, which have one dark spot and a somewhat warmer green base. They are very nice... But as harvested chips, they are just a touch of rounded and have a slight shine to them, even after a faux-TSP bath. They don’t really fit.

So, my question is: Given the color scheme for the 25s, 1s, 5s and 100s, what might fit in as a green? I have a wanted ad out for any of family of mustardy chips below, but am not sure that will work, either. I’m kind of stumped.

The other chips in the set, FWIW:

Fracs — Butterscotch solids
$1s — Jack Cincys
$5s — AS 2s
$25s — ????
$100s — ES100s, CDI 100s, or HS 1Ks (43mm)

My first thought was yellow, along the same line as you were considering those mustard chips.

Some lavender purple or some not-so-vibrant yellow? If you can demon it to 20 instead of 25 then you’re allowed to use crazy colors too, right?

So you have:
Frac: butterscotch
$1: white
$5: coffee
$25: ???
$100: black / gray / orange

Maybe you can try the Cali color scheme and do a purple $25...

I like your idea of a purple $25, it would just have to be a shade that didn’t blur with the brown $5s... I find those two colors easily merge. Also not a lot of options as far as purple spotted THCs that I can think of, at least not without breaking the bank...

This will be either a milling or overlabel set, so there are some opportunities to liven up the overall scheme.

But I’m kind of digging the tan/brown/gray thing, as a contrast with the current fad for only HOT HOT HOT colors.

I might even slip in a rack of 2s in some additional color, between the $1 whites and $5 browns, if I can find something suitable, and once the 25s issue is resolved. I know some people think 2s are superfluous, but I find them handy as my cash game sometimes transitions from 1/2 early to 2/5 later.

Looking at the pics, I’m inclined to go with the ES 100s, and keep one barrel of the HSIs as 500s, in the dim hope of some weekend-long bender of a game which needs a high denom chop… Not concerned about the color similarity with the fracs, since they are different sizes and unlikely to ever be in play simultaneously.

Something like a Paris $1 could fit well in that lineup too, though that specific choice might not work well for spot progression.

Funny you should say that… I have a rack of Paris $1s. Will try to see how that looks. The light blue might stand out too much.

Aztar Secondary 25s… Mustard and tan edgespots might continue the theme, though the green is a bit much for me. Also not sure it would be possible to secure two good racks.

Blues, blue gray, and pink were all used in days gone bye.

Here you go:

Absolutely killer spot progression. The base colors are all subdued (mostly - the blue strat isn't earth-tone-y like the others, but it's not a strong color) and the spots all pop.

Just make sure you've got an outstanding label design, with denoms, so that everyone knows the freaky grey chip is a twenty. Or twenty-five. Either is fine, since the colors are totally non-standard anyway.

Or maybe this if you want a $1 and a $2:

The blue 1 and white 2 are even further from the neutral earth tones you're looking for, but they still aren't the big bold flashy colors you're trying to avoid, and the spots pop, and the spot progression is superb.

Definitely a cool spot progression... My only concern would be the darl brown 5s and the dark gray 20s merging. Would have to compensate with a very distinct label design for each. For example, one with a base color background, the other with a lighter label picking up an edgespot color.
