I am big into Craps. I purchased 2 500 set chips cheap. They seem to be of decent clay quality and far better feel, stackability and sound than the Composite Dice sets that we are all familar with (and that i have 1800 of). I am trying to find who made them so I can buy about another 1000. Their denomination amounts look like Paulsons but they are embossed with the words CASINO around the rim.

Any help identifying them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ruday

Plastic composite chips, were available approx 10yrs of so back in sets of 500, 1000, 2000 or so online from eBay etc...

If they weight 10 grams approx they are likely all plastic, if 11.5 or greater there is most definitely a metal slug inside. Stickers are glued on?

Still a decent looking set of chips.

Welcome!
Wow, another new member asking about these chips from long ago…
Seems this is asked about now every week.
Here’s last weeks’ answer:

These are a bit different label, and they do appear to mimic the Paulson Classics. I think they were from the 2006-2007 era. You’re unlikely to find too many fans of these here, I believe they are ABS plastic chips with a metal insert for weight.

I also seem to remember years back, one or more eBay sellers that would sell a 500 chip set of these, and add ONE Paulson Classic chip, so they could use the word "Paulson" in the title. Quite sneaky, and they probably sold a bunch tho those buyers not paying close attention.

Thanks for the reply. For the fun of it I weighed 20 of them and they came in at 9.0 grams per chip. To me they seem to be better than the dice chips but I could be just to new to the chip arena.

I paid $20.00 per 500 set with cases so I do not feel like I was taken from that stand point. They still have the flashing on them.

When I deal craps on my table with 6 players, 1000 chips is a little tight in the 5 (300) and 25s (200) range. My table handles 8 players so I figured get 200 more 5s and 300 more 25s plus additional in the higher denominations for a total of 1700 when done.

I am heavily considering Monte Carlos in bulk for a good experience. Good choice? Why the different weights for the same chip, 13.5 and 14g? I like the Monacos too but they are pricey.

I will break out the dice chips when I do parties for hire.

Thanks for the response back. You guys saved me a lot of time searching for these.

Do not take offend but here might not be the best place to seek advise

People here trade chips that is $2-$10+ each commonly here in bulk so pricy is a very objectionable term here

Thanks for the heads up on the set. Unfortunately I got to them a day late. I will now start searching on FB marketplace.

Thanks for your effort!
NP. Sorry you missed out. Will let you know if I see more. Sounds like you use dice chips too, I probably have a 1000 plus WSOP branded Excalibur dice chips if you need any.

I have about 1800 of the dice chips and I will use those when I do parties for hire. The chips you linked me to would be for my personal games. If you ever see a set like that again, please message me. If I can get them I will send you a spiff.

Thanks again.

I started with Monte Carlo slugos and I loved them - I am a sucker for sparkles! I still use them when I am playing with new/inexperienced players because I purchased so many of them (didn't find this site until afterward...). And, I am not going to be as concerned if players are not as respectful with them as my casino chips.

For a comparison between Monte Carlo chips and Moncao chips, check out HobbyPhilic on YouTube. I believe he compares the two of them in an episode.

If you are on a budget, the M.C. chips are far more affordable than what you are going to typically find being bought/sold here. Get samples so you know what you are buying. The M.C. chips are heavier and feel different from China Clays and Paulsons. I purchased my M.C. chips from The Poker Store because they offer a smooth version of the chip without the flashing. They stack pretty well and don't have a plastic look or sound, imo.

If I could go back and do it over again, I would have probably purchased the Royal Card Room chips from Apache. They are a little more expensive than the M.C. chips. But they are 43mm (not 39mm) and have a really nice look to them. Some people say they have a funny smell. I never noticed it. I also noticed that Apache now has some nice looking ceramic chips that cost a little less than the Royals, but still more than the Monte Carols.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the review on the Monte and Monaco chips. I will work to finish the set of chips I pictured for craps party rentals so I can ditch the Dice style chips which I currently use and despise. I will take your advice on buying the sample sets. My fear Is I will see the differences at that level and want to take it to the level that this forum really supports.

If I played poker I could see the investment in real quality chip sets however few people play craps as a home game. Craps is almost a team game where If the dice are hot at a craps table at home or casino, the room gets loud and exciting.

Thanks again for the input and i will check out the youtube video.

Still a thing.
