So is our annual Ice fishing Weekend getaway...started out as 12 to 14 guys that all worked together and is a 25 you tradition. This is my 6th year...lot of guys retired...some work elsewhere...but we keep the general same group of 13 guys with a few rotaters...friends and family fill some spots now and it's more like a reunion trip. A few serious poker players a few who like to play and few who play to smoke cigars and drink heavier.

So this year they wanted shorter tourney games to get more games in and no cash games as by the end of the night half the guys are too drunk to see and the chick's in the cheap porn mags start to look really hot to them.

Alot of guys go out early and we don't allow rebuys because...well some guys are just bad and rebuys makes them worse.

So this is what I did...we have 9 to 10 players. I went with a T500 with 15 minute blinds. 5, 25 and 100 chips in play with a 15/9/2. I'd of used larger denoms and higher blinds but some of the guys freak out over big numbers...can't explain it...as most of the group are engineers or engineer technicians...it could be the Hamms or Pabst talking.

Any suggestions, except for upgrading the best damn group of redneck, hillbilly, hunting, fishing kick ass, nerd clothes wearing during the week engineers I've ever worked with is appreciated!

A cash game is the exact solution to people who "want to get more games in". The game doesn't stop. But I digress. I know it's impossible to teach 10 old people new tricks. ;)

I think a T500 with 5/10 blinds is fine for a casual drunken shove fest. Sounds like fun.

Man, that sounds like a total blast!!!

Poker-wise, I'm with 200 Motels, cash game is the best solution for not having people waiting for the next tourney... If the concern is the amount of money someone might loose after a few cases of Michigan brew, you could do limit games (DC maybe?)... The main issues I see with a T500 tourney is that in two levels, you're already pretty close to a push or fold situation. If that's what people like, great, go for it! You could also do a double or nothing tourney, in which instead of player to one winner, you play only until half the field is out then start a new tourney... Regardless, it will be a heck of a weekend man!! Have fun!!

Before my time there was apparently some bad blood over cash games.

When you hear phrases like "Pair of Deuce(y) Never Lose(y)" you know why some guys drop out quickly!

Pics will be forth coming!

I love me some Michigan bluegill. Some of the best eating fish in my opinion. What lake were you fishing? I enjoy fishing all over Michigan when I can.

What did you think about those chips? I'm considering those for my "keep in the car as an emergency" set :)

Actually that was the first time I used them. Not bad at all for what they are. Heavy but they were great for travel. Poker n stuff has 40%off right now so I expanded this set to 1000 to handle deeper stack and more player tournaments.

I actually really like them just wish the colors were brighter. But for the price, I can live with it.
