I have been playing for a few months on this site, had some ups and downs. But feel like I see too many rigged hands. Years ago I used to multi table and played many more hours. I have played many years in poker rooms and home games. Suffice it to say I've played a couple hands of poker in the past 20 years, in those 20 years I've had my share of straight flushes - up and down the rankings- too many to remember. I've had 5 royal flushes in all those years... well I had 3 in 20 years and now in the past 2 weeks I've hit 2 more. This is all NLHE.

Seems odd that when you get to the river you can look at the board and guess that someone has the nuts on a huge number of hands... I'm not complaining I'm losing on the site, I have done pretty well, but somehting just doesn't seem right.

Could just be variance was on my side, but just seems too coordinated too often.

I’ll throw a question at you...what do the site’s developers gain by targeting you in particular?

Because unless they’ve done so...it’s an illusion that’s just magnified by the number of hands played online vs live?

I didn't say they were targeting me. I said too many hands appear to create a lot of action - thus boosting the rake. I was curious if anyone was playing there and did they notice any higher than typical coordinated hands or was I just looking for it.

Just wondering if anyone else had any experience there.

Ok, I’ll re-phrase my question.

Is the extra .25/hand rake how a site makes a profit, or having 100 tables running vs 10?

I’m just trying to flip your thinking to not be personal. If you do, I think you’ll realize the site has no reason to run anything but a straight game.

Does that mean collusion can’t exist, etc? Absolutely not. But the sites by and large are dealing straight poker just like live facilities are (IMHO)...it just makes sense to do so. Again, just my view though, consider what you paid for it when processing what I said!

Nooooo .......... A platform that only exists electronically, owned by some guy, being manipulated by that same guy to make him more money with zero risk to himself? Why would a person do that? ;)

I really don't trust any online poker/casino sites. The temptation to cheat is there- sites open and close all the time- grab your money while you can, we've witnessed the cheating in the past (multiple times). I only play small money for this reason, it's something to pass the time. Regulation is still not there, so who knows.

I no longer play online, thanks to Absolute Poker, Ultimate Bet, Full Tilt, and others. Too many others. Of course there has been cheating in live games, too. It all boils down to game selection, I guess.

I eventually recovered all of my missing funds (but not points), but I did lose those wonderful Monday night mixed games on PS.

To be clear, I don't think online poker is rigged...for the most part. Are there shady sites? Sure. Are there cheats on most sites? Probably. Can the same be said for casinos, underground games or home games? Definitely.

I think poker sites have too much to lose to "rig" hands to get more rake. They don't need royal flushes to get their max rake anyway, which is typically capped at avg size pots. I think sites have much more to gain if players feel like they are playing in a fair game and their money is safe. The money will come from the hundreds or thousands of tables pulling rake every second.

I had a room with friends on PokerBros during the first several months of lockdown. I came to this same exact conclusion--not that the games/cards were rigged against any individual, but rather that the cards might be rigged for action. We played north of 50k hands and had ~12 straight flushes and 5 royals in that timeframe. Not to mention the action flops--the amount of hands that saw showdown were obscene, and it wasn't because these guys don't know how to play, it was because there were tons of nut-vs-second nut hands.

Here is a hand I played on a European Bitcoin site known for sports betting, but which is also known for poker—heavily promoted on a popular poker podcast.

This does not involve the system creating action. It involves the software actually being faulty:

Standard NLHE multitable tourney. I cover the villain.

I have 98o.

Flop is 896 rainbow. I flop top two pair.

Checks to villain, who shoved for about 6.5 BB with 77 — third pair with an open ender.

Runout is Ax Qx.

Villain misses her straight; my top two are good. Right?

Wrong. System says she has a straight and awards her the pot.

WTF. Emptied account, won’t be back.

When this happened, one of the other players said, “Yeah, earlier my full house lost to a flush.” Not a straight flush, I assumed.

yes this is what I thought I saw at Sportsbetting. Wasn’t that I was getting the shaft, it was more like playing PLO - had to pay attention what the possible nut hand was- just seemed to come up too frequently - not that anyone was colluding.
I would play tight (in my range of hands), only play suited connectors, good suited aces, unsuited AKAQ and pairs - I play 6 handed and found myself with a hand to play more often than I’m used to- I used to play 3-4 tables waiting for playable hands- I could play 1-2 here and get as many hands to play

Exactly, I just don't play enough online anymore to know which sites to use (that I can make a deposit on).
None. The factors that made your site here go rogue are the same factors all sites face every minute of every day.

yeah this seems common across most mobile poker platforms these days. I used to play anywhere between 8-16 tables of PLO on pokerstars back in the day and spent most of the time folding or not getting much action post flop. These days its like every orbit there is at least 1 hand thats on a collision course for someone.

I play a bit of PLO on this site too- constantly getting hands to play- I didn’t count the royals I got playing PLO because, well it’s PLO. I enjoy PLO- easier folding in PLO. Pretty much plays itself when I’m half paying attention

The last royal I got I played poorly... but based on how this site plays I played how I thought was appropriate.

I was playing .10/.25 nlhe 6 handed.
I was in bb with AdJd, cut off raises standard raise to .85. It folds around to me and I flat call- based on this site AJ was not a premium to RE raise . I had lost several pots due to kicker trouble (thus another reason for my skepticism of the site - but I digress). Flop comes KdQdTd- flopped it... first time I ever flopped a royal. So I check hoping he has a big pair that hit. He checks. Turn 7s, now I make a .95 bet trying to appear to be on a diamond draw, hoping he’s got a piece of something. He calls. River 2c I check after a pause hoping it appears I missed any draws. He checks and shows 9c9s. No action - he gave me a ration of shit for not betting the flop- oh well, I suck I know. And I told him this- to which the table agreed and they all rejoiced.

I did say I am not very good- so no need for Monday morning quarterbacking. The second he checked the flop I knew I f***ed up - then I just went full-retard
