I received my first chip set (ever)! (1 Viewer)

Thanks to the internet, Amazon reviews, and this forum, I was spared of the fate of owning dice chips. Instead I am now the proud owner of 600 Milanos. Although I sepnt about 4X-5X my original budget, I think I will be very happy with them and they should serve me well for a long time. This will be used maybe once in 2-3 months for neighborhood games.

I read that a lot of people find the new chips' smell quite bad. I personally don't find the chalky smell too gross, but I will still wash them in Dawn solution before oiling them per the "Oiling Done Right" thread.

I bought a 500 ct set from eBay. The break out is 1 x 100, 5 x 150, 25 x 100, 100 x 100, 25 x 500, and 25 x 1,000. I also got an additional 50 x 50, and 50 x 100 (not shown, should arrive today.)

I inspected the chips and that there were some issues with the 5s. About 13 of them has some minor issues and I am following up with the vendor to see what can be done. Issues include paint chips/smear, one crack line (or bad mold,) and grossly misaligned edge marks.

I also don't have a lot of other chips to compare against, but I still have two Trump Taj Mahal 5s chips from long ago and the Milanos feel better than the Taj's (Taj feels kind of plastic...) But they sound the same when dropped, same size and thinckness. So to me, the Milanos is definitely "casino-quality".)

Milanos are for sure a good way to dip your toe into the chipping world. Good luck to you and your wallet in the future!

I didn't know that was a thing Probably will host in November. I will be sure to take some pictures and post in the right subforums.

Also, I was considering Majestics or Dunes but Apache won't be able to ship until end of the month and I was originally planning to host then. Since I ordered this the plan has changed and I could have ordered from Apache. Nevertheless, I am very happy with the Milanos since it cost me $207 for 600 shipped.

@SparkyPlayer nice first set! Beats most first sets by a mile, for sure.

Advice that I wish I’d gotten when I originally ordered my own Milano’s; think hard if you may ever need more of any denominations. If so, go order them from the same vendor now.

If you try to “add more in the future” they will not match. Color will be off, perhaps wildly so, and thickness may be different too.

Fair warning that it does not take much to get sucked into the rabbit hole if you poke your head in here which in reality is a cabal of chip degenerates. The people here are so debauched with their casino tokens, they make the residents of the Betty Ford Clinic look like role models for abstinence. When I started, all I wanted was a sample set of Paulsons (when they were still making THCs for home games) to shuffle. I got that and it was like touching the black goo from Prometheus. You get infected. I didn't even graduate to China Clays. I went from that sample set straight into humping a Chiproom Sale for Paulsons. I did well in that Chiproom Sale and thought that is my life's mission fulfilled until I saw another classical set of Paulsons on eBay that I had to have. And when I acquired that, I thought again that this WAS it.......the last chipset I will ever buy. Until like you, I poke my head into this accursed place, saw the Key West Vendor Forum and promptly decided I had to have a Key West set to make my life whole. You have been warned. Despair all ye who enter here
