I Present: The USMC Cash Set! (1 Viewer)

These are Amazing..... currently even just in design stage this set is in my top 3 sets that I have ever seen on this site.

I am thinking opportunity here for a "charitable cause", Perhaps this set could get picked up with a % kicked back into certain VA programs etc...

So, I'm obviously new to this custom chip world (been playing for over 20 years, though) and I have no idea how this works. Can someone explain the whole sample sets or single chips and how that works? I'm more than happy to get some extras if that is what the people want!
Id love a sample set if offering. Its a great set and im a big fan of the ring around the inlay.

Also, I'm still waiting on my samples to get in. I ordered them last week so I expect to get them soon.
Have the color samples arrived yet? If so are you planning to stick with the colours you are considering? I think you might have dirty stack issues with the 500 and 5K with the current colours you have selected.

REALLY COOL chips!

As they are, they’re already fantastic.

With that said…my personal taste, which could definitely differ from yours, would be to implement edge spot progression. I would also do the camo theme across all chips. Green and black are done. Just google red camo for the $5, snow camo or white camo for the $1, desert camo for the $1000.

Now, purple and pink could also be googled to add camo behind them, but maybe the purple $500 chip can follow the Purple Heart colour scheme.

I have no idea what medals/honours/ribbons might be pink.

Lastly, I personally would take out the oorah, but it’s kinda cool too.

Honestly, I love that this set is so meaningful to you. I’m in the process of designing a custom set and now I feel I need to completely rework the idea

This set is cool and all that matters is that you like it.
But if you’re looking for opinions, I think having one side’s inlay black and the other side’s inlay orange is a mistake. It kills the cohesiveness of the set. Further, I’d say that all the different images on the black sides just make the eyes weary. Very few casinos do either of those things.

This is a good point, IMHO. The pot and other piles of chips are going to have both sides showing, which means that all the images on one side of the chips need to "go with" all the images on the other side as well. If the two sides of a chip are too dissimilar, then it's going to look like you have two different sets of chips in play at the same time.

That's not to say you can't have different stuff on each side, but the different sides still need to be similar enough that they look like they belong together. Mainly this means they should have broadly similar colors and backgrounds.

But like the man said - if you like it, that's all that matters.

I think that changing the black side to blue really improves the look. I wouldn't worry about having two sides with different colours - there are plenty of good sets that have this and work well. Most of the time the chips are in stacks so the inlay doesn't really matter and there is plenty of clay to aid with visualisation. You could experiment with making the white graphics red to see if that makes it more pleasing.

To my eye, the Semper Fidelis and denomination text needs some work - it looks a bit crowded on the 1k/5k chips. Perhaps making the Semper Fidelis curved would create some more space?

Overall, you have the makings of an impressive set. It's easy to make multiple options and choose which you like the best before they're made so don't be afraid to play around!

So after two years, I have decided to revive this. My family and I recently did a cross country move so I needed some cash freed up and this set didn't get made. I'm now back to getting serious and making this project come to life.

The .25 chip still needs some work on one side of the inlay. I really like the idea of the yellow footprints (if you know, you know) being at the 'start' of the set. I also changed up the spot progression.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Any suggestions or critique on the spot progressions?

That's definitely my weak spot (no pun intended) creatively.
