Hi all, just venting here.

A few months ago, I was paying 1-3 at a casino, pretty much breaking even, but I had won a few hands so I thought I was on an upswing. I got dealt AJ in late position, raised, and had two callers. Flop came A, J, x, so I raised, and one caller stuck around. The next two cards were blanks, no straights or flushes, so I raised every street and got called. Eventually I went all-in on the river, and villain snap calls with a flopped set of Jacks.

Today, I was playing some online tournaments for fake money (because I live in Colorado), and got dealt AJ twice. I was short stacked both times, so went all-in both times, and both times got called by AQ and AK, respectively. Lost each hand, and called it a day.

Now, I’m not a very superstitious guy, however, this pattern is making me believe that AJ is cursed. Anyone else have a cursed hand that taunts you like Lucy holding a football? Every time I see it, I think, “she isn’t going to pull it away from me this time, is she?”

And every time, she does.

This speaks to my soul.

I've had AJ cracked by A10 and 3/4 suited on two separate occasions in all in situations just this year.

Never play with gingers....

Wait, are you a ginger?

Classic post hoc ergo propter hoc; I would disagree with your assertion and encourage you to accept yourself as you are.

:ax::jx: is typically a calling hand with GTO. The disparity between hand selection for holdem is why it is so boring; I think this hand is maybe break even.

I will say there is a hot new product that most don't know about, you can find it here, but please don't share it, I don't really want it to get out.

Check out this link

@Anthony Martino

Of course, there will always be hands like this ...
I raise in a cash game with AJhh, and get called by @kirchhausen . Flop comes AcJs2h. I bet, he raises, we get it all in. He shows 22. turn, heart, river, heart, and I scoop a big pot.

Yeah, I know this thread isn't about that ...
Wait, you mean to tell me that you have a documented win with AJ? That’s it. Next time I see it, I’m going all-in, then flipping them over before anyone has a chance to call. They’ll all be wondering where their chips went while I’m laughing and giving the table double-middle fingers.

When the universe is trying to give you a sign to stop playing poker for the day... ouch.
about 30-40 minutes before this hand, we UTG shove for 12-15bb. HJ calls, CO reshoves, button reshoves BB calls... call, call, call.....
AQ vs AK vs AA vs QQ vs KK (in that order). Aces held.

KK has been By FAR my biggest money maker both in Omaha and Holdem! Certainly hands work for certain people... but I will die everytime on Kings!

Ask @Lil Tuna but the time I folded Aces to his kings! Haha
Was ICM in play?

IIRC, you have got me twice AJ vs 22 when I'v flopped a set, the other time was JJ2 flop and you rivered an ace (someone else had the other J). whover said "dueces never looses" is full of it.

Three standard losses with AJ does not a curse make.

Also on the cash game hand where you ran into a set of JJ. Hard to know if you played it right or wrong without:

Exact positions of all players
Stack sizes
Bet sizes

That was a good time. AJ brings out the schmoe in me.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. I hate AJ! I’d much rather play QJ, J10 or J9 in any position than AJ.
But that’s just me.

And yes @Ben8257s story is true. I believe I check raised him all in after a J high flop with pocket kings and he did fold his pocket AAs.
The way the hand played pre had him convinced I was holding pocket JJs but also had me convinced my KKs were good. ;)

If you want to run deep in a tournament or save lots of money in a cash game, look at AJ like you expect to wipe your ass with it and move on.

To the best of my recollection, I played the hand perfectly. It’s the cards, I’m telling you!
