Horseshoe Cincinnati was found purely by chance for me. I was just wondering if there was someplace in this vast forum where people go and post to inform of large upcoming sales like these or do I have to individually trawl all the vendor subsections?

Thanks!

Any large sales like the Cleveland/Cincinnati sales will be advertised well in advance and those threads generate a ton of posts/traffic. I would suggest always use the "New Post" menu link at the top of the forum then 'Recent Posts" so you see the most recent up to date threads.

Would you advertised in which subsection sorry? Classifieds or chip general?

Vendors (site sponsors) advertise in their respective "Marketplace" section. The general public (non-vendor) should list items for sale "WTS" or want to buy "WTB" in the "Classifieds" section.

Ok so generally speaking. I have to go thru all the vendors one by one but if it is really good we might expect the grapevine to chatter in the other sections?

When you click "New Posts" from the home page, it brings the newest posts from the entire site to the top. So if there is a big sale going on it will constantly be posted in and always near the top of the page then.

It would be very hard to miss if you check the site on a regular basis and click NEW POSTS

Ok guess ill have to kiv cause its a situational thing. Will click new posts from time to time to see whats happening. Thanks for the tips!

You can follow all these vondors, so that you will recieve a notification once they post a new thread. This will keep you from having to manually check their sub-forums all the time.

Also by using the "new posts" feature you can see what is currently the most popular posts at a given time, and huge sales like these will be on that list for quite a long time before the actual sale takes place.

This is the proper way to use the forum imho. I can't tell you the last time I traversed various sub-forums... granted I come on to the site about five times a day.

I only ever read posts through the new post button. The only time I need to look through an individual forum is when I'm looking for something specific. The best place to find big sales is by using the new posts feature. Like it's been said, the big sales will generate a lot of traffic and always are within the first 10 new posts.

Oh yeah good point. I forgot about the follow function. Thanks!!!
One bit of caution though, following won't tell you when they edit an existing post. Sometimes the vendors will add more photos or particulars of the sale to the original post in the thread. So while following new posts is important if there is one you're interested in you definitely want to check the original post periodically. The lower right hand corner of that post will let you know when it was last edited, if ever.

Otherwise New Posts is very effective. I think Jim's original presale thread had something like 2,000 responses before the sale even took place. Needless to say it was always at the top of the New Posts list.
