How often do you clean your chips? (1 Viewer)

The short answer would be: when they're dirty.

When this point is actually reached depends solely on how often your set is used, for what amount of time and how dirty the hands of your players are/what you're serving during play.

As soon as black gunk (frequently called 'hooker juice') builds up in the crevices, I'd say it's time to clean.

For me if anything at all is on the chips then it is about time. Some are not a fan of oiling but it does help to keep your chippies clean, if you play them dry after a wash, especially white clay, you will find it doesn't take very long at all for dirt to start building up again. Hence I avoid white if I can, I much prefer blue $1s if possible in a set as typically the White is a $1 workhorse chip.

Almost never. But that's because I have so many different sets, but they never get a chance to build up that much dirt.

With that said, I do find that I have to clean my ceramics more often since they don't absorb any oils like clay chips do and become slicker and filmy after a while.

Once. Then it's just oiling when they need it. Very rarely will any set get played to dirty again around here. It's takes a casino to really make the hooker juice flow.

Same - I try to really clean them (if needed) once when I initially get them. If they are a little dirty after a game, I might do a quick wipe down - but only if needed.

I prefer not to really clean/scrub them more then once, especially hot stamps, as I don’t want to wear the stamps.

With just home use, I guess only white chips might need cleaning at some point of time.

When I buy dirty chips from TCR or feebay, or harvest from the casino. Other than that, I don't clean them to avoid making scratches.

I only clean them right when I get them. I know all the guys I play with so I’m not too concerned about what goes onto the chips while we play. More concerned about chips
Coming to me that may have been used as a tip at spearmint rhino or thunder down under.

Antibacterial Dawn is a must for me, and I’m not even a germophobe.

If used and dirty, when I first get them. I don't play them enough that they've ever require a second cleaning. If brand new, a little oil to perk the colors up and that's about it

I washed them once and oiled them when I first received the chip as I like to keep them cleaned

For reference, Chips that I washed at Jan only the White $1 and light green chips get dirty.

I used to clean when I get them, but got lazy, have tons of chips to clean, but having said that, some chips play better when dirty.

I’ve had ASMs for over a decade and never cleaned them. They aren’t dirty but aren’t pristine obviously, they got handled enough that they never needed oil, and holy Jesus they were as heavy as bricks and shuffled like butter.

There is nothing like a well broken in but still sharp edged ASM HHR mold chipset. Happy to die on this hill.
