Hi PCF,

recently i bought a set of used 1000 pc WHTC chip set from a friend that used to host games. Condition of the chips are pretty decent, edges are mostly sharp and roughly 5% of the chips have minimal ‘flea bites’.

except for some grime and dirt which i can clean off easily, i think its of decent condition. the only problem with my set is that it only has $1, $5, $25 and $100 denomination. That would mean it can only be used in a 1/2 or possibly 2/5 home game? I am thinking of adding in CPC chips as alternatives for the bigger denoms because i think its close to impossible to find affordable $500 and $1000 WHTCs on its own.

How much should my current set be valued at? Can i have some insights please?

^^ this ^^

Condition & breakdown are key for value...
Post pictures and you'll get some ballpark values.

Do not mix CPC with WHTC chips, both awsome chips on their own...not so together in one set.

You can probable also play NL50 with $1-$1 blinds. But it depends on your breakdown.

Beautiful set. The 1s and 5s are worth more than the 25s and 100s.
average for the whole set should be $3-4 per chip.
congrats on a great set.

Gorgeous chips! I am considering a WTHC cash set myself! As others have said $3-3.50/chip. You will make more selling by 100 racks or one small set plus the extra racks.

Beautiful set sir... the way that you worded the original post it would seem more that you are leaning towards keeping them than selling them... that being said in the $3 to $3.50 range you could sell them and build a customs set for around the same price if you don't go crazy on edge spots, color choices (bright neon colors cost more), textured and shaped inlays... and so on. All of these factors drive the price up on customs... Also it sounds like you are trying to build a cash set and a tourney set out of the same set? Is that correct? Or you have a serious group of ballers if you need $1000 and $5000 cash chips, if that is so many would also suggest scraping this idea and going with customs as these chips are available in the wild and chip security should play at least some factor in building a high denom cash set... again this is a preference, what you have there is an amazing cash set that is very desirable, the fracs are difficult to locate although @Apache was recently selling sets including the hot stamp fracs and may still be available! Other wise if you prefer playing $.25/$.50 you always have the option of adding some nice casino used fracs that compliment your set even though they don't necessarily match, here are a couple of examples of my cash sets.

Again just a couple of options...

Most will tell you it's better to build 2 different sets for tourney chips and cash, again for security reasons so people don't pocket tourney $25 chips and try to redeem them on the cash table. There are many options out there that don't cost a fortune for tournament sets... one of my recent favorites would be the 43mm China Clay Royals that Apache is selling through their website, amazing feel and worth checking out... just my 2 cents for what worit's worth!

Only one side of the cage is fully visible in each of these pics. What is your total breakdown of each denomination? And what is your desired game/use of the set? When you play tournaments, how many players do you have? With the right breakdown, a 600 chip set can work nicely for 20 players. Perhaps you could sell off the extras to fund a 2nd set for cash games.
