Straight Flush
I just got a new 8-bay NAS up and running and finally got a UPS for it to make sure I can power it down safely during an electrical outage.
However, I need network access to shut it down, which requires the router to be powered on. I've also kept one monitor connected to the UPS (primary 30" editing monitor, which is a 45 watt power hog), along with my PC (which also sucks a lot of juice).
Right now I have the following plugged into the UPS:
- NAS
- PC
- Monitor
- Router
I'm considering a 2nd UPS specifically for the Router, Cable Modem, and to offload the monitor to extend emergency run time on the other UPS.
If I did get a 2nd UPS, my setup would then consist of:
UPS 1
- NAS
- PC
UPS 2
- Monitor
- Router
- Modem
Is running 2 UPS units common? Is it worth it? Advice for/against?
