Hey guys,
So i have fallen down the rabbit hole and am in the middle of picking up more than one set. One cash game set and one tournament set. And even still i'm already trying to convince myself for more. Crazy... right??

How many sets did you guys start with and what do you have now?

well i already have that one covered...

I can field a new set each month, but not quite a new cash + new tournament set each month. I think that's a sweet spot for me....

i like the idea of one big set, but i also love all of the different varieties... so im probably going down that route. One day I would love to own a nice set of Paulson's to play with. Personally I am a minimalist, so I am a bit fan of the hotstamps, like the Grand Cardrooms

I'm still very new to buying chips and I kind of went crazy right away. I went from one set to five in a few months. Now I've put on the brakes but I'm always looking because there just may be something I can't say no to.

I need better pics, but my original custom ABS Zombies, followed by custom ceramics...

So... 15 sets. :wideeyed:
I host 7-8 times a year. I may be a chip nerd. :watching:

I picked up the obligatory set of dice chips over 10 years ago, still in school.

Now, I have a custom clay cash set for no-limit, a custom ceramic micro(nano)stakes cash set, and right now still some cheapo slugged plastic tournament set.

Incoming soon is another clay cash set for no-limit and a clay tournament set covering two tables.

Future roadmap is expanding clay cash set numero uno to support fixed limit with $1 chips (it already has $20 chips so it kind of lends itself to that), expanding cash set numero dos to support fixed limit with $2.50 chips (it already has $25 chips), and expanding the tournament set to cover a third table. Bang, pretty much anything I'd ever play covered.

Right now no plans to get more past that... but you never know  :whistling:

Three sets in total.

I started around 2006 with dice chips, aprox. 1,400 pieces to cover cashgames an tournaments (yes, i know...).

Then I bought a set of Poker Knights for tournaments and the Nexgen Pro Classic as a cashgame set. Worked well for our group.

Now we established a NL 1/2 cashgame which runs fairly deep for my standards, sometimes more than 2,000 Euros at the table. For safety reasons (not everyone in this player pool is a close personal friend as before) and for the "moar"-reasons I decided to buy a custom set of Tiki Kings.

So, four sets in a few weeks. And probably the final step of my poker chip development...

2x Paulson cash sets (Terrible's 1200 chips, JB CDI 98 840 chips)
2x CPC cash sets (Caballo Loco v1 1200 chips, Caballo Loco v2 1200 chips)
1x CPC tournament set (Caballo Loco 840 chips)
1x CC tournament set (800 chips/120 plaques)

I’ll chime in representing one of the few people on this site that doesn’t actually consider themselves a chip collector (are there any others?).

I bought a custom set of ASMs over 15 years ago and another backup set of ASM solids a little after for cash and tournaments. I still have my original set of cheap diamond chips and set of plastic metal insert chips I used before the ASM solids for the same purpose.

Recently I bought a 500 chip cash set of scrolls as my travel chips. I only consider my customs as my one actual “set”. Maybe the solids as another.... so two.

I joined the forum because I wanted to learn about custom ceramic chips and see if there was a market for my ASM solids. Also to learn the best way to sell chips (which I’m still not sure of ) I had no idea people collected entire sets of casino chips and so called fantasy chips. Absolutely no clue. I figured a chip collector meant single chips from old time casinos or chips no longer in circulation.

I stuck around for the great poker related conversation and great info and people here. I also love seeing people’s custom sets and all the uniques ideas and designs. I still haven’t made a move on the original reason I joined. :(

I think I have 5 sets currently...
#1: Original Paulson Casino de Isthmus City cash set (>700 chips total with low use chips stored)

#2 Palm Imports original China clay customs 600 chip tournament set (20+ buy in)

#3 Faux Clay tournament set ink stamped The white chip was gold ink! (>1000 chips, >40 buy ins)

#4 Chips Casino (Bremerton Washington) Chipco "cash set" would us the $25 chips as quarters. (I have 600 but not sure where the other rack is!)

#5 Cheap metal insert set for a biweekly, local pub, free tournament I host (>800 chips, >20 buy ins)

Coming soon a tournament set using "Milano" blanks and tribute-ish WSOP labels, hopefully from @Gear.
Here is a mock up I threw together using Milano samples and label printed by that "A Seen On TV" chip
labeling software and my crappy (for precise paper handling) Canon inkjet:

Hey guys, OP

I LOVE THE QUESTION, and welcome to the sickness. And no/yes/maybe crazy, but oh well. Enjoy the crazy ride, because you can never have too many sets...LOL :)

To answer your question about how many...I'm not positive. I had a shit ton...sold some...and bought others. But I suspect it's more than 2. (;

As per my view of what makes "collecting", I don't consider myself a collector.

(Own) custom sets don't qualify anyway in my eyes. The handful of real casino chips in my possession was mostly bought for reference - some of those upcoming custom chips were "strongly inspired" by them.

awesome... sooooo much to look at and see... and learn really. It's crazy because it really is a rabbit hole that once you start looking a bit deeper, you see it gets even deeper and deeper
+1 this^^^^ ...and as @detroitdad and I were discussing recently...I don't think I will ever be satisfied with what I have. I just keep venturing down the hole.

I used to think it was silly having more than two sets. Then I thought well, maybe three........then four..........My 6th set is on the way. Over the last 10 years I've probably had 25-30 sets. I honestly don't think I'm happy unless I'm buying/selling sets lol.

I recall selling you the Key West set in my pic above. Its fun watching sets I have had previously go through others hands. I always get a kick out of seeing Lakeshore quarters being transferred... knowing that they probably originated through me.

I used it three times. Then sold it to one of our military members (can't remember who) for the same fantastic price you gave me
