Not sure if this has been discussed, and I'm sure nobody really cares, but this is the type of small detail that interests me, mostly because I still don't have a favorite method.

I created GIFs of myself looking at cards in multiple ways, and linked them below. I tried to embed them directly into this post, but couldn't get it to cooperate.

1.) https://giphy.com/gifs/TgF8VrS0Hv3KHrheAm ("Horizontally" look at right corner of bottom card, then squeeze top card)

2.) https://giphy.com/gifs/8YvtlMIg7uSQWwae0v ("Horizontally" look at both simultaneously)

3.) https://giphy.com/gifs/65ARHnGrVOUerx3m58 ("Horizontally" look at right corner of each card individually)

4.) https://giphy.com/gifs/9Pxp7BKvNyBma9o0ZH ("Vertically" look at both simultaneously)

5.) https://giphy.com/gifs/7SQWmCTFR9A3Zb9maP ("Vertically" look at bottom card, then squeeze top card)

I'm sure there are countless other ways - I'm interested to hear them. I'm partial to holding the cards "horizontally" (GIF #1-3), but don't have a "go-to" among those 3.

#2, but with the cards slightly angled away from the player on my left, and my right hand placed vertically on the right side to completely block the view of the player on my right (i.e., I make a little viewing lean-to shelter with my hands). I also don’t flex/bend the cards on the long axis, I keep them unbent to avoid damage.

I do the same, but I’d need a 3rd arm to do that AND take the video lol

I voted #1. I alternate between doing this sitting straight up and barely seeing my cards and slumping over and put my head down almost on the table edge and playing the hand out something like this:

None of the above. I use 2 hands most of the time. I probably look like a dork, but frankly i don't givva shit how i look. my hands are usually pretty dry, it's tough for me to do it one handed most times

Depends on how much I’ve had to drink. By 7 or 8 I’m pretty sure I pick them off the table and hold them an arms length away from my face.

Damn dealer dealt me four cards in NLHE! :ROFLMAO:

For me usually #3, although if I have a chip wall built and then sometimes I go with #5 and hid them behind my wall while looking.

Basically #5, a little diagonally tilted to have the interesting corner point at me, while I use the left hand to cover the spectacle.

I find this is really hard with 5 card games like scrotum. I end up looking at the cards individually.

That's why I forbid these games in my house:LOL:
I even discourage PLO not just for its volatility, but also because most people (including myself ) will send etiquette to hell and pull the 4 cards upon their chest to arrange them in the order they like.

Combination of either/both #1 and #3 but I always cup my hand in front of/or on the side of looking at my cards depending on where my stack is and table configuration...Didn't realize #3 would be rare comparatively to these others.

3 is the closest for me, but I do it pretty quickly and snap them down to the table. Almost like a mini riffle. If I didn't see them the first time, I do it again. No rhyme or reason, just the way I do things.
