Are people more willing to shove or put someone all in? Are they fun to include in home tourney games or not worth it?

Depends on the monetary value of the bounty, and it's value relative to buy-in cost. A $5 bounty in a $20 tournament is not likely to significantly alter play, although some players may tend to call an all-in with lesser holdings. A $20 bounty in a $100 tournament will definitely increase table awareness when another player's stack is potentially at risk. And a $15 bounty in a $30 tournament will have people gunning after one another with regularity.

Absolutely fun, and totally worth it imo. Aggressive players will usually do well in bounty tournaments (even if not finishing in the money), but passive players typically don't like them.

Most of our casual stand-alone tournaments are $40 buy-in with $5 bounty. Our bigger stand-alone tournaments are usually $80 buy-in with $20 bounty.

The league events are $60 buy-in and includes a $5 bounty chip, with an option to buy a separate $10 super-bounty chip (which can only be lost to another super-bounty player). The house also puts a $10 bounty on the head of the previous tournament winner, which can only be won by super-bounty participants.

Good info thanks. Sounds like a lot of fun. I should look into this. I hosted my first 10 man tourney and it was a blast.

Also meant to mention that we've also held bounty-only tournaments in the past -- $25 entry, which gets you a starting stack and a bounty chip worth $25. No prize pool.

Aggression pays off. :) Run the table and win $250.

I was thinking. What about using the bounty chips as shots of whiskey in cash games? Each player gets 3. You can only use a whiskey raise after the river and only 1 at a time. If you lose your chip, it gets moved off table to the bar, and you drink a shot :) Think this will work?

3 shots wouldnt even get me through the first orbit.

SO, I doubt this would work unless your crowd doesn't drink much...but the fact that you posed the question tends to indicate otherwise. :whistling:

Possibly could work if host is supplying top shelf spirits.....not Old Crow

You should see the size of my shot glasses LOL! In terms of rules, anything Im not thinking about that has the potential to go wrong. Limit of 3 shots per person to prevent blackouts, check. Only use 1 at a time after the river so you dont get guys drinking 3 in a row, check. What else :) ?

Do you guys use jetons, or regular 39mm chips for bounties?

Sure, if you're playing with children who drink cheap booze. Easy money!

I currently use custom Bounties (my players love Bounty tournaments). Prior to that I used black dice chips with my Milano set. Also you can find semi-custom bounties at ABC Gifts or OWPS.

Ah so bounty chips are normally custom ceramics? Sweet. I was thinking they were regular 39mm chips just with a different label. Whats the width of bounty chips?

The ones I linked above are all 39mm chips.

I looked at the OWPS ones and they are 43mm ceramics.

Could I print labels at Gear and then just relabel some spare Milanos? Or best to get 43mm ceramics? Whats the convention?

Some are bigger sizes, yes. Mine are octagon. You can relabel spare Milanos, but you'll want them to be a different color than the denoms in your tournament.

Cause for my tourney set, I have some spare blue $10 chips. Perhaps I could just relable those, but I wonder if custom ceramics dont look/feel better on the table, like they are really worth something. What do most folks do?

I think most folks make custom chips after using something else until said custom chips are made.

I made mine oversize and ceramic so there was no way they would ever get mixed up with the actual tournament chips. Craig's octagonal chips serve the same purpose.

We have octagon bountys in production as well, which will replace mini-poker chips. People love the mini-chips (well, the women love them), but I prefer everything to be custom - so the mini's days are numbered.

I have re-labeled ASM bounties (spotted, for use with my ASM solids set so they easily stand out). I also use ceramic bounties, and prefer oversize so that they don't get mixed up with tourney chips.

Get whatever appeals to you the most.

Do you think a relabelled blue $10 will get lost in a tourney stack with other denoms (green, black, purple, yellow and pink)? Only way then to ensure it doesnt get mixed up is to get some that are different sized, like 43mm.

Maybe I should try using my $5 reds as a tourney bounty chip (used at face value, $25 buyin, $5 bounty) and see how it goes. Then get customs at some point should the guys like including them.

I think you'll be okay there. The $10 blue isn't close to any other color.
