Has anybody played with the Slowplay Ceramic pieces? Just wondering how they feel compared to, say, Tiki chips. What the texture's like, do they slip/slide/spin, etc.

The other Slowplay pieces ('clay' ABS/slug chips) were reviewed as kind of meh but okay for their price.

Thanks in advance,

Yeah, those are the clay pieces and the review that made them seem 'meh'. Slowplay has more expensive ceramic chips that I can't find much info on. Maybe they're just new.

They look and sound like a nice product (ignoring the fact that it's the wrong damn color), but I don't see any vendors that offer samples.
Also, the company store is registered in Toronto, but the support site is registered in China, and they ship preferably only to the US? It's weird enough that I'd like some first-hand accounts.

I got the same impression from the video. I thought they were all the same as not one else seems to talk about them.

They looked good on the Slowplay website but not so much for the ABS version on the Hobbyphilic review recently.

Yes, the Hobbyphilic video is about different chips entirely than the ones I'm asking about.

40$ for a bundle of 50 chips? In my opinion much better designs out there for better price and proven quality. Unless your not in love with that design consider alternatives

Yeah the individual bundles are super pricey. What made me consider these in the first place was the sets they sell with a case that somebody in a different thread said was really good.

A friend of my friend has them. I was actually searching in China shopping sites for poker chips.
My requirements are 1) ceramic 2) designs I like 3) right denominations.

They have loads and loads of chips in the shopping app. However it’s either I like the designs and it’s not ceramic or the colour looks off or I do not dare to customise the designs I want as there are buyers who posted that the end product colour isn’t as bright as they want them to be.
Then I chanced upon slowplay site. There were plenty of good reviews especially photo reviews. I found it refreshing that after viewing usual chips designs for days, I saw one that is pretty unique.
I think slowplay chips look nicer with denominations but they are not of the right denomination and colour I want.
I showed a friend those chips and he said a friend of his has the ceramic set. So I asked to view them and I was sold! They feel smooth in my hands and they sound good too.
What I do not like is that slowplay doesn’t use black for 100 and white for $1.
I actually found some copycats (same design but with their brand name on the chip) and there is a seller who is willing to customise the denominations for me. His brand name on the chip is “poker club” You can customise it to your own wordings too for a fee.
I plan to buy one of each colour from the copycat to compare with the slow play ones. That way I will not waste money.

If you are fine with slow play instock designs and colours, get them! They cost more than others but it’s quality.
You can consider their playing mat too as the quality is good. There is no need for the mat bag unless you want to carry it out.
Hope my sharing helps.

What? US$40 for 50 chips?

They cost almost US$10 for a roll of 25 chips. Better off getting from slowplay china and pay an agent to ship to usa for you.

Update : I was resigned to buying slow play non denominated chips because they did not follow casino standards for chips. (I want the chips to follow standards as a convenience for my friends)

Then I found a copy cat brand that makes similar chips. They have many good reviews too and the seller will customise my denominations and colours combinations. I asked if I can customise the words on the chips too (as I do not like the brand name) and he said yes I can do that too!

Only thing I do not like about the copycat is that their chip case is not as nice as small play.

I will buy some chips from them and some from small play to compare. Regardless of who I will buy from, I will definitely buy the playing mat from small play.

Will update you when I get them.

Don't know about the chips, but the plaques are fair to middling. Got them as a gift. Probably wouldn't buy for myself.
