In addition to looking at cpc rounders, I have also seen the Horseshoe Casino Indiana poker chips. They appear to be Paulson chips and are much cheaper than others. Am I missing something about these making them this cheap? Thanks for your help.

The HSI chips are indeed Paulson chips. They are made on the Reverse Hat & Cane mold (RHC) which is one of their cheaper molds (compared to Top Hat & Cane [THC]). The HSI chips come in both new and used forms, with the used chips being quite a bit cheaper.

The CPC chips are made by CPC; they are a much smaller shop catering to very custom orders. That's why their prices are higher. They also use a different manufacturing process; CPC chips are not like Paulson chips. They have different colors, different feel, different weight, different sound.

The HSI chips are a beautiful chip that would make a fantastic first "big boy" set. Many people remove the inlays and put new ones on to make the HSI's "custom" with their own denominations and/or logo/theme.

CPC Rounders are a "stock chip", meaning that they mass produce a certain amount to keep costs down. A fully-custom CPC set could be as much as $5 / chip or more.

1. RHC
2. supply and demand

I dig the 1a's and 5 secondaries. Great value for the price.

I have several sets of HSI on the off chance my kids sell my mint THC sets to fund their business plans.

Edit: get samples.

@TheChipRoom brought them to market in recent months. There were some ridiculously huge amount of chips (like well into six digits) so they were sold cheaply, so they would all sell (and I don't think they've all sold yet.) But except for some of the $1 chips which were sold at 60 cents apiece, the prices on these chips aren't sigificantly lower than any of the other sets the chip room has brought to market in the past couple of years.

This is some of the best advice u can get at this stage in your journey. Takes time but it can also save you, big time.

Last I checked there was 12000 that could be added to the cart. I almost swooped them all to vault. Been on my mind that’s for sure. I only have a few thousand now...

There are limited denominations available now. Does that mean that getting a complete set may be tough? Confused on primary and new primary. I get primary and secondary but I have never heard of new primary.

Yes, if certain denominations are sold out then they are sold out. You'll need to put up ads in the classifieds or try to find other vendors like Apache that might be selling them.

The primary chips were used in the casino. Therefore they are in used shape. Some primary chips were not used and are new.

All the secondary chips are new as they were never put into play.

These HSI chips are not as cheap as they were before when TCR sale started. Now people offering $25 SEC racks for $350/rack lol and flipping there $100 into $400/rack even $450/rack while the initial TCR prices were $1.79/$1.99 per chip.
Some years down the road these chips could have the same price as PCA.Those started out priced the same as HSI when they first offered by TCR.

Umm
Yea, that could happen. It could also happen that they will routinely sell for roughly $1/chip or less. You guys that haven't been around for long haven't seen how cycles go. Supply and demand have an enormous effect on what prices things sell for and just a few more or a few less buyers can totally change prices a lot

Respectively, that is NEVER going to happen...it takes time to grasp the full awsomeness of the PCA

I expect the other way...once a new sale drops or it's summer and more then a few new members will leave or want to buy other stuff and sell what they have.
With current situation I see more then one casino closing doors in the year to come...

Or prices stay the way they are...and then we are all doomed and switching to singles

Agree with this, very unlikely to happen....

Unless of course GPI decides to only produce and sell 36mm solids to all their casino customers from now on, and all US states make laws similar to Nevada where chips have to be destroyed when casinos close. And PCF membership goes to 100k members instead of 10k. Then maybe one day HSI low denoms can cost the same as PCAs currently does. Lol

True , PCA is a better chip. However my point was that , when those HSI sold out by TCR , they showed up in the classifieds immediately and sure enough price was not the same. Supply is less demand is higher now. Within months the prices gone up by 50% for some dominations , because if that’s what it takes to complete you’re set , you’ll pay it anyway. But like you said , current situation is also a factor , casinos can close and therefore will the supply rise.
Will there be a BF sale this year you think ?

There is still quite a bit of value in the CPC Rounders Stock designs from CPC. They aren't that expensive for what you get in my honest opinion. There is a big difference in price if you go stock as opposed to custom.

My first set was a 700 Ct Rounders. Stock design. I've added on and now have 940 and it is my main tournament set.

I'd be willing to say, dollar for dollar, they are my best chips. Durable. Everybody loves em. Even non chippers like em.

Worth a sampling.

Pr0n just because...

I wouldnt be surprised to see a flood on the market as casinos convert/clean and upgrade systems for keeping track of fund. The obsession with sanitation and cleaning will be with us for some time. I could see many casinos either closing or converting to clipless models.

A short term bonanza may be ahead and a near end of a product in the gaming environment.

I am hoping not but anything can happen in the crazy times were in today
a little birdie told me there will be something new quite some time before Black Fri

Definitely there is a supply/demand drive to the cost of chips. the HSI primaries are my favorite version and as an owner of a large Used set they are awesome. Hopefully they hold roughly the same value over the next few years but who knows. I see the Casino Aztar chips are much cheaper now than when they were being sold a good 10 years ago......it's hard to know what will go up and what will go down. Complete playable sets will likely hold value better than odd racks but tough to know.

I agree...icon like chips are cheap and very easy to clean compaired to clay...if casino's don't opt for chip free gaming model (like you mentioned)

Don't think so...hundos are going at least double (6/chip and up) IF you still can find them and $25 chips always have been at 250-ish
Because two racks of primary sold cheap doesn't mean anything here.

Try to sell some Jacks now for the crazy prices they went during their high days...I presume the same will happen with HSI if Jim has another big sale.
And if that sale has THC chips in volume (and not butt fugly)...then you can devide current HSI prices by 2 or more (close to initial CT pricing)

What would be a decent value per chip for this set? Looking to get a big boy set and these seem to be nice beginner chips?

Which set are you referring to? I am suffering from voluntary illiteracy. (I’m a lazy MFer and can’t scroll up)

How many chips? Which denoms? These factors are necessary to help make a calculated approximation. The market is shedding some skin so there is no real definitive value.

Look right here and you can see what the chips originally sold for. Generally you’ll expect to pay more than these prices, but this give you a staring point, and a feel for the incremental jumps in prices for higher denoms or better conditions.
Typically (for Chip Room sales) the primary chips are in casino used condition and the secondary chips are in mint condition. This sale was unique in that there were casino used primaries AND unused mint primaries, in addition to mint secondaries. And you can see the difference in initial prices. But now you can see why we’d need to know exactly what you’re looking at before we can talk about appropriate prices.

For HSI secondary chips…a ‘per chip’ price may not be the best way to look at it, cuz all the 1s are cheap compared to the rest of the chips. My HSIs are my favorite set…I would only consider the primary HSIs beginner chips.

Also worth mentioning that it feels like we’re in a buyers market. A year ago, when somebody listed chips for sale, you paid whatever they were asking and you were glad you had the chance to get screwed over so quickly. But it doesn’t seem like that’s the case these days, especially with sets like this where there are literally tens of thousands of most denominations in circulation.

TL;dr - try bargaining with sellers - if they paid top of the market post-sale prices, they should probably expect to take a loss if they sell today
EDIT - don’t expect to pay prices from the original sale; that ship has sailed. But search the classifieds, see the highest price they’ve sold for, and pay less than that.

Let's say an HSI set of....
600 chips
Mostly low denims
1, and 5, some 25 and 100

Figuring a good starting point price wise

I have 4690 beginner chips...(makes me a Noob, I guess) I had samples for Indiana grand but preferred the HSI primaries. There the favorite of all my sets aside from customs. As for prices I agree they hit a high approx last winter, for used I'd expect between approx 30-150% premium over the chip room prices depending on the chip. $100/500+ being the largest increase in value.

I’ve bought and sold and traded a lot of HSI.

I’d say any of the three $1s is around $1/chip because there were so many. Used primary $1 less than $1/chip.

Used primary $5- $1.50-2/chip
Mint primary $5- $4/chip
Secondary $5- $4/chip

Used primary $25- $1.50-2/chip
Mint primary $25- $2.50/chip
Secondary $25- $4-5/chip

Used primary $100- $5-6/chip
Mint primary $100- $6-7.50/chip
Secondary $100- $5-6/chip
