I've been working on my first ever poker table on and off for a few weeks now, and finally finished it a week or so ago, so it's about time I get some pictures up!

I will use it as a topper, but it has the possibility to add IKEA legs to it.

I made a few mistakes, and I started buying materials before I knew how to actually build if, but overall I'm super happy with how it turned out considering its my first time doing a wood working/carpeting project.

I haven't been able to use it yet, as I went away for holidays just a few days after I finished it.

The materials I used:
- IKEA table top
- board of wood (for hobby wood-working)
- black fake suede for the rail
- green speed cloth
- foam of two different thicknesses
- a shitload of staples

Heres some pictures (maybe a bit too many:D) and I'll add some more info about the building process underneath.

The final result:

I started of with buying a table top from IKEA. In hindsight I should have bought two of them, but I got the first one on a whim just because it was super cheap because that model was going out of production and they were selling them for about 20% of the original price. When I actually started planning the build, I realized it would be way easier having two of them, but then it was too late. Instead I was thinking of getting a sheet of plywood the size of the table, but decided it was a bit too expensive and a bit too hard to carry it considering I dont own a car. I ended up getting a 3m X 40cm board of wood, and cut the rail out of that (in 4 different pieces), and screwed/nailed it together. I was a bit sceptical at first, but honestly it's hardly noticeable that it is not made out of one piece of wood.

I then used spray glue to attach a thin foam to the playing surface. I actually applied 3 layers of that foam, because it felt too thin. Definitely could have used a higher quality foam for this, but it turned out ok, and was very cheap.

The rail foam was also cut out in a few pieces, since I couldn't get a wide enough foam without blowing the budget.

I went with suede for the rail since I love that look compared to the more standard vinyl. It was a crazy hassle to get on, but with some help from my girlfriend pulling the material and stapling we got it done in a few hours.

Feel free to ask if you have some questions, and thanks for looking!:D

The topper is fantastic! That's great handiwork. I gotta know though: what chips are those??

That looks like a great setup that didn't break the bank - awesome! Also your pic of the Elites makes me want to buy some. Those colors are eye popping and jaw dropping! Great Work!
