Sorry if this shouldn’t be its own thread, but how do stacking chairs like this look for a home game? I could get them for $25/each.

Is this a trap? Is this a great deal? Thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't call that a 'good deal'. The padding on those chairs leaves a lot to be desired. As @Highli99 stated, used Gassers can be found in that same price range if you're patient. A gasser chair is gonna have 4" of seat padding and a flex back - both of which make a world of difference in a 4-8hour poker night.

I suspect those are better than in the OP. I have yours in red and the seat is 2" rather than 1". I got 20 for $18 each at a used restaurant and office equipment store
Mine are from a real casino about two hours away from me. And a huge upgrade for my game. We used to sit on those cheap folding chair seats. My players couldn’t have been happier when they saw them.

Personally, I wouldn’t feel great about paying $25 apiece, used, for those. Unless I immediately needed chairs, I’d keep looking. $25 should be your target price for used gassers, which are probably at least twice the chair as what you’re looking at.
I’d just say keep looking; always be looking - check Craigslist and eBay and any other sites, daily, and be willing to drive for the right deal.

I waited patiently and found much nicer chairs with more padding, for way less money than that.

If you currently have folding chairs, be patient and keep looking. Create alerts for "chairs" on the local for sale apps.

Also, my previous chairs were 1-2 inches too short for my table. They were okay, but we knew we'd be more comfortable with a little added height. I'd measure yours top of seat to floor. And if you find an extra inch or two would be nice, you can ask for that measurement as well when you see chair ads.

Where do you look to find used gassers? Would love to lock some up.

I did some research here on PCF until I felt like I could identify a gasser brand chair myself, as I thought it likely that not all sellers would actually know what a “gasser” is, or why I would need to know the brand specifically.

I sporadically searched FB market for stackable banquet chairs and sifted through the trash for MONTHS until last week when I found some in driving distance, on my day off … for $5 each. I had to clean some adhesive residue off of 5 of them, but they clean up great. Gassers are excellent poker chairs (even if the colors are not your first choice like mine!)

I got a stack like those a few years ago from a school district selling off surplus. Paid more like $3/ea, not $25. Even new, that seems steep for this style of chair.

I found these about a month ago for $5 each from a charter school that was selling them. Bought 25 of them. Some of them need a little work and they are far from new but at 5 bucks thought it was a pretty good deal.
So $25 seems pretty steep.

How much do new gassers cost comparatively? These new Newport gassers look so baller. But to know how much they are you have to get a quote. Maybe that's a bad sign :D
