I am looking for a hole card reader or even a Tech Art chip tray with hole card reader built in.. This is for a home build black jack table. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

There are some 3D printed peek mirrors on eBay, search for "Blackjack mirror."
I recall seeing these on eBay a couple years back. I considered one at the time. I haven't uncovered my blackjack table in years... otherwise I would have snapped at one of these.

I also recall when I was building my blackjack table in the early 2000's, I asked the clerk at the Gambler's General Store (in Vegas) about a hole card reader. She stated that the manufacturer leases them to the casino and that they are not available to the public. That was many years ago though.

So this is done by machine vision and not RFID I guess? Should be pretty easy to train it to recognize cards but you have to be proficient in the technology. I'm sure most of the open source projects out there aren't documented too well except for perhaps Nvidia?

What's the purpose?

They're typically reading the raised-index on blackjack cards to determine if the hole card is a 10 (or paint) when up-card is an A, or an A, when upcard is a 10 (or paint). No RFID or machine vision needed. The distinction is made by presenting the cards to the peek mirror either horizontally or vertically. Presumably you could also do this with machine vision if you have regular poker/bridge cards.

The purpose is to speed up blackjack games by avoiding decision-making when the dealer has a blackjack (also reduces house edge since you lose only one bet to a dealer BJ).
