could you give examples of this phenomenon?
Sure, I don't mind. They were flat when I got them, they are now warping a little and you can see gaps between them more as time goes on. I kept them on the desk to see what would happen if I didnt baby them basically. It goes from really cold to really hot in the span of hours here, so I wanted to see if any of that would affect the chips at all.
One of them I would consider a factory second, as the edge spot was crumbly and separating from the rest of the chip, probably didn't have enough moisture in the clay when they went to mold it or something to begin with. It started to look worse and then I decided to add a little pressure and it snapped off. Wasn't surprised by the result, and not complaining at all about them by any means. Obviously, if you apply pressure to a clay, you can break it, I just was surprised it was that weak. The rest of the chip was solid though, I couldn't break it when I had tried.
I still want some
CPC's one day, but getting these made me kinda like ceramics more because I don't have to worry about storage and maintenance with those chips (proper storage, oiling, flattening warping chips etc.). More of a quality of life thing than anything else
Plus you can’t tell much from looking at one chip as opposed to a rack or even a barrel
I can agree with that for sure. Having a whole barrel over 1 chip is a night and day experience.
I'm not saying that you are wrong for suggesting that samples are a waste of time, you have solid points, I just tend to disagree a little.
