My name is Dan,
My first poker chip introduction was in college and I saved my money working at restaurants to buy a 500 piece Paulson 2005 James Bond poker chip set for $510.... After babying them for a few months I decided I should prob sell them because they weren’t being used (I was too scared I’d hurt them) and I was young and also worried they might get lost or stolen. I ended up buying sample packs of many different chips and my buddies and I decided to split the cost of a 1000 chip set for our home games (that I later ended up winning the rights to the whole set in a poker game). The chips were these (pictured below) (I used a pic from this forum because I have the same kind. I still have these in fact they’re great).
I played a lot of online and casino poker during the poker boom and then stopped for several years because of having kids.
I’ve always regretted selling my Paulsons and miss how they looked and felt. Since covid I’m getting back into poker and chips. So am I right that Paulson doesn’t make chips any more? Or is that just for consumers? And do they all have lead in them or just some? Anyways I’m a hobby guy and I’m fascinated with poker chips. I’ve watched most of the @Hobbyphilic videos and they’re great! Thank you for those. I’m looking forward to digging into this forum further. Next I want to possibly get Custom labels for my chip set pictured. That being said, I’d love to see hobbyphilic do a new label video with @Gear labels

Thanks everyone,
-Dan

Oh also, I just ordered 950 more of those chips pictured last night from netpokerchips.com. And get this, they had a coupon code thing at checkout and I just plugged in random stuff and wouldn’t you know it, I ended up saving 25% off my entire order...

Welcome to the forum sir, 05 CDIs are my babies... I don't think I could let them go! Hopefully in time you find the perfect chips for you!!

It has grown and waiting on custom high denoms that are in the mail now... 800 of them actually. But here's my 05 CDI collection!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think this was possible. Especially at today's prices (over $3 a chip for the higher denoms). But I built it a little at a time! Many consider these stepping stone chips... a step up from China clay but not really big leauge material. As far as I am concerned they are a forever set for me!!

Best of luck on your chipping journey, and remember we all love pictures!!

Fellow Chipper Ben

Good advice @allforcharity I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
@Ben8257 O.M.G. I’m floored. You have my forever set too. Seeing those brings me back. I wish I had that big of a set. Do you keep them mint or play with them? Also, if people don’t think those are end game then what do people consider the best?

Check out fellow member @Windwalker ’s pr0n thread. He kinda has em all :)

And welcome onboard! I used to have a CDI cashset as well but sold it through here. They do pop up for sale every now and then so definitely not impossible to score. Of course you need to get your dibs in before @Ben8257 does .;)

@Eriks sweet baby Jesus I just looked through @Windwalker’s God posts. I need to sit down and collect myself :jawdrop::bigbucks:

@DZPoker I see you, us Dan’s gotta stick together :cool

So I have a question. What’s the general consensus of the ranking of all the Paulson’s. Like what is the best of them and what makes them the best? Also I messaged Apache Poker Chips and they told me that all Paulson’s made after 2005 no longer contain lead. He also said they only carry post 2005 Paulsons now

where do I start with labeling my 2000 chip set?

Hi :) Ben's other half Brie here, yes we play with them. The set is being built to accommodate a 40 player unlimited rebuy tournament in Ohio in a few weeks. But on the regular they see our group of 8 or so (pre-covid) probably once every other or every 3rd month. We have multiple sets we rotate so not one set takes all the brunt of the action (or the show;))

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Okay you're awesome! My other half wouldn't be down for that haha. That's a really good idea to rotate the sets like that. So do you and Ben have a dream set that is even better than the ones y'all already have?
Oh and thanks! :)

Sure, but they are currently being hoarded (or loved?) by others. So, we will have to wait for our opportunity

What is considered the holy grail of Paulson chip sets? Or another kind of set for that matter?

Also, I’m a noob, how do I post pictures?

Depends on who you ask, but there are several thrrads available if you use the search feature and type in holy grail, that discuss this topic.

Underneath your text box is a button that says attach files, and you can upload from there

More than likely a true grail set will unfortunately be sold at a garage sale for $25 from the kids of the owners. They don't get released here much. The kind of money it takes and patience, plus the elders probably keep them amongst themselves. Grail is also in the eye of the beholder, I'd consider it one of a kind in rarity but you may not.
