Hello everyone,

I collected my first set of poker chips by getting 1s at various Vegas casinos around the ~2006 timeframe when poker was making big gains in popularity. It was just a way of killing time at the casinos for me since I didn't really have the money to gamble. I always felt that casino chips were better as I liked the way they felt and sounded in play. But I otherwise didn't know anything about poker chip materials, composition, or how they were made. I owned a metal slug set from that time on and used it off and on for cash games. Just recently about a month ago, I had a sudden urge to pick the hobby back up again and was looking at used sets on Ebay and was pretty shocked by how much clay poker chips cost. Somehow I stumbled on this forum and read about 50 threads or so before I got a fair idea about this hobby. I've since collected samples from various sites including CPC and bought my first set from them.

Welcome. The Rounders set is pretty sweet - now you just need the cut cards and dealer button.

Welcome to PCF! Beautiful Rounders set, one of my favorites! There's a good number of active members in SoCal area ranging all the way from LA to South Orange County. Give your wallet an early pep talk since it's going to be in a bit of pain, but most of all, enjoy chipping! Perhaps we could meet at a game in the near future. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
